Title: 28mm WOTR Cannon bits and pieces suggestions
Post by: steders on March 02, 2015, 04:29:40 PM
I've got 3 Perry guns to paint.
They don't come with any kit (cannon balls, baskets etc)
Does anyone make this stuff?
I've had a look but can't find anything. Cannon balls could be made from ball bearings but after that I'm struggling
Any thoughts?

I got a shedload of buckets, powder barrels and little pyramid piles of cannon balls from Bicorne when I bought various ECW guns and crews from them.
Ditto The Assault Group 30 Years War guns.
Don't know whether either of those two manufacturers sell all the artillery set dressing separately, but they're all nice pieces sculpted in both cases by Nick Collier. Work perfectly well for WoTR.
Would be worth checking their websites.

Maybe a Perry plastic late medieval artillery set will happen one day. Feel sure that would include such bits and pieces. There again, it might never happen and isn't going to help you now  :)

Front Rank does this sort of stuff. ISTR Bicorne do do a pack of just the bits.

Warfare has some nice detailing parts packs as well.

They are the breech loaders ? Serpentines /veuglaires ?
You could scratch build the Breech tube with plastic tube and a bit of wire ?

The cannon balls would be quite small..so ball bearings ?

I would second Front Rank, Bicorne and TAG catalogues for baskets, boxes, ramrods etc which are all good for WotR artilley.

I just bought some of the larger Perry/Renedra plastic barrels, cut them in half then filled them with rolled up balls of greenstuff.  :)
