I know everyone has heard of the show The Walking Dead, but there is another show called Z Nation. Home sick/between jobs, I had finished watching all of TWD on Netflix and this was suggested. Started watching it and it's not horrible. Not a lot of ammo rationing that you see in TWD, but lots of searching for gas. It had a few good ideas for scenarios (Including a Groundhog Day repeat the day episode and radioactive zombies).
Not saying it's an award winning show or anything, but if you like the zombie survival shows, it's not a bad waste of an hour.

keep with this one it IS award winning haha. maybe not litterally but the story arcs are amazing. the character development. its a PROPER tv show,. not one designed to make money, or designed to please its viewers, it will find ways to piss you off so much and then you will puit it back on. the baddies become the goodies the goodies become baddies haha its a big mess but a friggin awesome one. definately stick with it, one i reccomend wholeheartedly. but dont ruin the ast episode for me!
also worth watching for murphy and citizen Z alone. two COMPLETELY NEW character stereotypes. i challenge anyone to find a carrier of a vaccine character to find one as complex as murphy. he's more than just grumy!
also they change cinematographer toward the last five episodes and it makes a MAAAHOOOOSSIIVVEE diference, meaning basically they BEGIN to color grade, not lots but some and it makes a world of diference.
TW
hope you enjoy it as much as me and my girlfriend have. its our "new show"

While watching it, I kept thinking how it would play as a table game.

I've watched most of the episodes, not bad, I wouldnt rate it along with twd but watchable. It will be interesting to see twd spin off set in los angeles and how that fairs as I think the zombie genre has been flogged to death over the last 10 years and I am a zombie fan. Now constantine I watch over the space of a week, really enjoyed that little gem on amazon

I wrote it off after watching the first episode.
There's a lot of good tv shows nowadays, but I could not find any reason to torture myself by watching another episode of this.
As they say : de gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum ...

First episode left me kind of Meh too, but it does get better. I have found that for most good series, you have to go at least three in.

gotta quote here to, this is an awesome show, and the first episode gives you a lot of info fast.
its the direct opposite to TWD and it isnt trying to be like it.
in fact its boots off, ratings lifted and monologues reduced a 100% better.
TWD benefited from unjust boom and buzz, combined with moody film coloring it makes people feel like they're in the cinema. the writing and acting is actually not that good. in either shows. at all. boith shows get some golden moments but not a lot. Also TWD is a very self riteuous self teachers pet kind show. it loves itself way to much. the only thing about z nation that loves themself is murphy and even then he's just a complex character who just needs a hug!
so yeah sorry to argue but you quoted a famous Latin quote about not arguing and in the same paragraph called it torture which is just really silly. so as a big fan i had to.

constantine?
Oh yes forget the naff keanu film, this is much closer to the hellblazer comics. About an occult specialists fighting demons and the like, supernatural with a bit of grit :)

Watched the last episode of S1, how do the come back from that?
-
yeah me too, last night. shocking. its like the writers all had an anxiety attack at the same time and just started writing for no reason. Odd ending. my thinking is they just won't. it'll always be just that one series kinda thing :/

I've seen the first season of Z Nation on netflix and the first episode or two and it kinda looked bad. Lets be frank is a SciFi show it looks cheap with all the cheap CGI. But this show has real character development and plot twists! I stopped watching twd because I was bored to tears this show did not bore me one bit. There was almost too much going on, all most. I would say give it a try at least 3-4 episodes you may come to like it like I did.

I also watched the whole series on Netflix and I agree with many of the points above. Some episodes were not as good as others but on the whole I thoroughly enjoyed the season. I appreciated that almost every confrontation with both walkers and fellow humans got to the point real fast without any drawn out soul searching. The series is not without it's faults - ammo conservancy for one and a few odd episodes - Groundhog Day and the Russian Astronaut could both have been dropped IMHO. But there were some gems too, I particularly liked the Liberty Bell and seeing Mount Rushmore.
Anyhow I'm looking forward to the second season and seeing how they explain away the cliff hanger ending.

The ammo conservation was the biggest thing for me too. It wasn't until near the end that they started to consider it. If it was a recent situation where the SHTF, then I could kind of forgive it, but we come in to it about 2-3 years after the outbreak.
