I'm currently putting together some lists for a skirmish wargame set in The Fall/Emberverse which is a extremely trashy series of books that take place in a post-apocalyptic Pacific Northwestern USA that prominently features no guns, cars, explosives and other similar things.
I've done some scratch building using mostly GW Catachans, Cadians and Empire Free Company but I'm looking for more options, hopefully in a loose heroic 28-32mm scale. I've already grabbed the Wyrd games TTB plastic kits, and they are great but waaaaay too big (even compared to other Wyrd stuff!).

Sounds interesting.
I live in the Pacific Northwest,
just outside of Portland Oregon.
I look forward to seeing were you go with this.

Never heard of it before, what's the excuse for no tech?

Magic, basically.
Things Happen. Gunpowder, internal combustion engines and electricity all quit. The laws of physics change somehow. But (conveniently) not enough to render biological life impossible, because everyone being dead would make it hard to churn out endless schlocky books.
I read the first one or two and got bored, I'm afraid, but I think the Magic Happens becomes a lot more overt later in the series.
That said, it's a different post-apoc than most and should be a cool skirmish post-apoc setting. Interested to see more.

I get, I can have suspension of belief if you keep on producing fine kit bashes like the guy at the top of the posting. lol

The Wargames Factory survivor sets have some bow armed figures, so are worth a look. Hasslefree are also worth checking out, as they have have some sword armed figures.
I've used fantasy figures before for this sort of thing. The trick is finding clothes that don't look too out of place. I've also converted some of the Foundry Street violence figures, cutting out guns and replacing them with bows and crossbows.
I posted some examples on my blog (http://zemjw.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/modern-demon-hunters-1.html)

Yeah my buddy has some of the WGF plastics and while I like them they are really small for matching with the heroic stuff I already have. I like those Hasslefree figures though!Magic, basically.

Yeah the books are pretty much Games-Workshop caliber pulp stuff, but the setting as a whole seemed like fun so my RPG group has been running a game in the setting for 3ish years now and a full scale skirmish game seemed like a next step.

There had been a tv show called Revolution where there was no electricity, but guns did work, as did steam engines.
You found out there had been some government device that was causing it.
I'm at the beginning stages on creating armies from the series using 25mm/28mm figures. Using Dark Age, the period not the game, figures or early middle age figures. Painting them to have a more post apoc look, camo, jeans...shields painted with military unit symbols or even some type of modern tribal symbols. There is a Cascadia flag that is tricolor, green, white, blue with a Douglass Fir emblem. Thinking about the Cascadian shields mimic the flag and having a NorCal army cross into the Republic of Cascadia at Siskiyou pass. Anyways, looking to solo campaign the defense of the Republic of Cascadia.

This seems quite interesting, have you read any of Walter Miller's post apocalyptic fiction, Canticle for Leibowitz? He strips everything back to a high medieval level of technology, which errs towards 17th-18th century in other parts. There are black powder weapons but I think that you may find it enjoyable, it's certainly not 'pulp'.
I've got a bit of an aversion to including loads of high tech in my own PA setting, In many ways I'm simply ripping Miller's world from a North American setting into a vague arabic levantine one.

Guess you're talking about Sm Stirlingshire Dies the fire series, sadly the last book is more of a recipe book than furthering the story.
His Island in the sea of time series is far better.

Feodality sounds a logical organization for a "late post apocalypse" era, once every oil, batteries, and ammo left disappeared !

That’s a great conversion! You can also to use some of the Cadian plastic guard too especially the legs, heads and belt knives & shovels. Also Reaper has some figures that won't need converting.

The Studio miniatures Z-Clipz Outbreak has a ton of low tech survivors coming out. Due to begin shipping to backers next month.
Theres Dixon who has a crossbow available. Hasslefree have a number of bow/modern melee types.

This sounds like a very worthy project - I live in the UK so if anything post apocalyptic occurred I would be much more likely to see such low tech weapons around, rather than boatloads of firearms.
Please post up more pics of your figures, that first one looks very good! There are a few Pig Iron sets that you might be able to use for this work too - feral and rebel command packs have figs with removable hands and ragged clothing. If you sourced some close combat weapons and bow arms they could be easily converted. Hmmm that's quite a fun idea actually.... ;P
