Did the Mad Mahdi have any muzzle loading cannon in his arsenal, firing cast iron cannon balls? I've been cogitating on having a theme of cannon balls on the command/personality bases for the British. The Empire's finest surveying proceedings, disdainfully standing in a crop of the baddies hardshot... wot, wot!

At El Teb he had captured guns that were operated with captured Egyptian crews. They shot cannister, believed to have been a deliberate act to undershoot at the British Square.
So, yes in theory, but did he use them with ball? I know not.....

Very unlikely I would imagine, as far as I am aware the only guns used by the Mahdists were, as already pointed out, captured from the Egyptians. While some of these certainly might have been muzzle loaders I doubt they would have bothered with roundshot, even if they had the industry with which to cast the balls...
