For our club project Håtunaleken – extensively reported on by my good mate Dalauppror, both here and on his own blog (http://www.dalauppror.blogspot.se/search/label/Håtunaleken) – I have painted up the host for the (current) king himself, Birger Magnusson.
This is a 12 point "half retinue" for Lion Rampant, as we decided it would be easier for people to join the project if they didn't have to paint a full 24 points retinue from the start. My host consists of a unit of foot serjeants lead by the king, and a unit of knights.

The models are all from Gripping Beast and very nice indeed!
More pictures, together with some background for this fascinating period in Swedish history, can be found on my blog:

Hi again!
Thank you for all your kind words.
The king Birger Magnusson has not been idle since we last saw him. He has now rallied some allmoge, i.e. yeomen, to his cause. These particular fellows are armed with a nice mix of shooty and stabby things.
The miniatures are a mix of Black Tree Design and Curtey's with the odd head swap.

These are great - the blue on those yeomen contrasts nicely with the more earthy greens and browns

Cheers Hammers!
The club is Little Wars Stockholm, the same club as Dalauppror is a member of. Ping me if you're in the area and are interested in a game!

I certainly am. As you , perhaps, can see, I am in Visby, but I am in Stockholm quite often. I'll try to get in touch next time.

Very nice painting !
The brown/green colors fits really nice with the colorful shields.
-
I'd seen some of these before on Dalauppror's blog before, but I hadn't realized they were your's, very nice figures Jonas!
-
Excellent work!!! ;)

Time for some more additions to Birger's host. I've given the king a bodyguard of foot knights to put him in the front line instead of hanging around way back with the serjeants. This slight rejigging of the force meant I had to add two more serjeants and four foot knights.
The miniatures are once again from Gripping Beast with two headswaps for the serjeants (as I don't like duplicate models in such a small army). The new heads are from Curtey's – very nice stuff!

The lions on the shields are overpainted transfers. Yes, I'm a cheater. ;)
You can find a couple of more pictures on my blog:

Hello everyone and thank you for your kind words!
Time for the final unit for king Birger's host, a small unit of bidowers.
The miniatures are Black Tree Design Anglo-Saxons with a couple of the heads swapped for West Wind ones.
