Title: Dishonoured and Thief minis. Any available ?
Post by: The-closet-gamer on 24 March 2015, 05:14:44 AM
I'm in the middle of playing Thief on the xbox and it's coming up to the point where it had a catastrophic meltdown and would only let me play the last available mission and it was the one in the nut house ( I had to play it in the day while I had friends around. I know I'm a soft chuff ). So not wanting to upset the xbox I saved it put it to sleep. I still had an itch to scratch so turned on the 360 and played Dishonoured. While murdering my way through Dunwall it got me thinking this city would be great for a steampunk campaign. So while possessing enemies and brutally hacking my opponents to death I stated to plan my little side project. Scenery check. Rules check. Minis erm....?

What I'm after are minis to represent the characters Garret as the master thief and Corvo as the master assassin. Any ideas from you guys. I'd like to have a few poses like running, shooting and the like. They don't have to be perfect matches to the game avatars as I can convert them. Many thank in advance

In case of Garret there is some miniatures in Red box games fantasy range which can be of use to you:

And if you find some good rendition of Corvo and his opponents from Dishonored please post it here , it would be extremely nice to see such minis. :)  Game style is just amazing from design point of view.

Nice suggestions, Eugeniy :)

I used "Cesspool" from "Dark Age" to build me a "Corvo":

Simply swap his head with a hooded one ;)

Very nice idea with Cesspool mini Tobias, thanks! :)
Now i need only to find Overseers, city watch, whalers, wolfhounds hatters, butchers, dead eels, weepers with occasional witch thrown to the mix and perhaps some nobility figures to assassinate them.   :D

Reaper are bound to have a few that would work.

Sorry for taking so long to reply my department at work is having trouble with board member interference and meddling in things they don't understand. Don't be a chef that's run by d**k heads that don't know anything about the catering and hospitality sector.

Any how, some good ideas for Garret bit I'm thinking about the death mask for Corvo. I think I'll have to scratch build one and sculpting is not my forte. I'm wonder if the old Space Crusade Chaos android head or a Necron head would work? I'm also thinking of building a rail cab from Dishonoured but it means building scenery with rails for it to sit on. I might just do it with spoked tyres instead so I'm not limited to where it can move to. I might also do one with a machine gun turret like a WW1/interwar armoured car

What do these characters look like?
what do they look like. As a first person stealth game I see your point.

What about just using a skull from an undead skeleton for the head?

I did think of that but it has an organic look to it, well it's a skull. It needs to look like it has a mechanical  look to it like it's been forged. But then again a space marine chaplains death mask has been forged out of plas-steel ceramite and that looks like a human skull. Damn my reasoning and logic I've just blown a hole in my own statement. That might be a fall back plan as I've got 20 boxes of skellys  when the regiment boxes came out in the late 90s from my days as a GW staffer. I will get round to painting them. Honest!

I think painting it as metal would hide that, maybe put a tiny plasticard circle into the eye socket.

It is stating to appeal to me as I'm only going to use the "face" of the skull. I'll have a gander at all three when I get home from work. I'm just wondering how Corvo actually wears his mask as the animated parts of the game when he puts it on it has no straps or or arm like a pair of glasses. So how does it stay in place not that it matters in terms of converting. I'll just file the face flat and glue/pin it in place.

Hoods hide a multitude of sins.

I did the "file face flat and glue mask on" on an other mini, which worked quite well.
Added a greenstuff band as well, to explain how it was fixed on the head ;)

On my version of Corvo, I simply swaped heads with the one of the Ariadna Spec Ops guy:

I think a hooded GW Woodelf-head would also be a great starting point

I've just found a few very detailed images on google of a 1/1 scale mask and apart from it being epically awesome it does have quite a human element to it and not a caricature like a Necron. It does have an organic look to a certain level. It does look quite scary especially with the wired jaw. If I saw that at 4:30 in the morning standing at the bottom of my bed I think my bum hole would start twitching. Then I'd probably think to myself I've got to stop eating biscuits in bed as there's crumbs everywhere. The logic would then take over and I'd start to cry uncontrollably.

I'm also thinking of Garret's bow. I can't remember what it looked like from the previous games as that's going back quite a few years but the new version seem to be of a collapsible format. Reminds me of Crisis 3. I think it will have to be a scratch build job.

And yes I am eating biscuits in bed.

Ooh that is a nice mini. I'm sure I can find a place for it. Much better than the Wargames Foundry ones that came out a fair few years back. I don't know if they are still available. I'm thinking of scenarios to use him in. Thanks for that. Can't remember who the boss was.
