Title: My build of Eureka's tachanka
Post by: Wirelizard on 24 March 2015, 05:49:13 AM
So last week my small order from Eureka USA showed up - their tachanka and a few other bits and pieces.

My first impression is that it's a well cast and well designed piece, but that yes, the crew figures seem kind of small, even compared to Eureka's other figures. The horses have great galloping poses and look awesome packed in as a trio in front of the wagon, though, and the crew and gun seem well designed to fit into the wagon and look great once painted and assembled.

I'm rushing this one a bit (actually, a lot...) because I want it on the table in Vancouver this weekend, which means having it ready to go by Thursday evening as I'm on the ferry over to Vancouver mid-day Friday.

Eureka Tachanka, Part One (http://www.warbard.ca/2015/03/21/eurekas-tachanka-part-one/) - basic layout and such.

Eureka Tachanka, Part Two (http://www.warbard.ca/2015/03/23/eurekas-tachanka-part-two/) - painting, mostly.

Part Three will get done sometime this week and will include the promised scale pictures alongside Brigade and Copplestone RCW figures.

Watch the horses ankles, they can be sonewhat fragile.  On the crew figures yes they are abit small, but once aboard you dont notice.

Yours looks a lot better put together than mine. I did the same thing and glued it together first. Mine looks alittle more worn, due to my average modeliNice tutorial thanx.ng skills.

I love my Tahannka from Eureka.  I only wish that they were in scale with the rest of my R.C.W. Wargame Armies.  That would be awesome.

It is such a shame, that miniature: lovely idea but ruddy poor execution of it.

Small crew you say? Now I'm wondering if I can use this for 20mm gaming...? I don't think anyone puts out a kit in 20mm or 1/72.

A 1/72ish Tachanka is available from B&B miniatures it is rather nice but Chunky compared to plastic 1/72 figures. It would be fine with Strelets figs though. i have one but have not painted it yet.

I'm guessing it's been released since their last update?

Step by step (ish) guide to Sholto's Tchanka.  I would like to see a side by side with Eureka's and Warbases.  I have a bob game next month and someone has Warbases so I'll snap a pic or two.

Perfect, I've got mainly Strelets at the moment. Thanks!
