Just posted some of the dwarf army I've been painting, nearly finished now.

More pics on the blog http://robsepicblog.blogspot.co.uk/ (http://robsepicblog.blogspot.co.uk/) Hoping to use these in multiple systems, but especially Lion Rampant, which I'm really enjoying at the moment.

UBERCOOL! You did a WONDERFUL job on the Vertically Challenged Ones. They look FANTASTIC in their mountain fastness. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Great looking figures and the terrain isn't too shabby either.
-
Thanks guys, got a dozen more to go then onto the Elves.
-
great job...!!!
-
A very nice job indeed!
I don't know Lion Rampant: can you give some more information (or a link to a related site)? What kind of system is it?
-
Nice. :)
Got a few LotR dwarfs on my painting bench, with Saga/Lion Rampant in mind. Great minds eh?
-
@RandyCarter this gives a good description of the rules http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/134524/lion-rampant
It's basically a very adaptable system there's been a lot of chatter about it on the mediaeval boards on this site, people seem to be using it for everything from ancients to fantasy, I've played a couple of games so far it just works really well and is very tight set of rules. We have played games of 18pts so far which tend to play out over about hour.
This guy has some really good AAR's http://dalauppror.blogspot.se/search/label/H%C3%A5tunaleken

Thank you Roberto, I'll take a look soon.
Hoping not going OT: actually I'm looking for a simple and fast system for fantasy wargaming, possibly involving just a few models, and I'm going to try SoBH. Have you tried both?
-
I have read SOBH never played them, LR is definitely on the larger side of skirmish games. My go to set for smaller skirmish rules is Mordheim.
A lot of people seem to enjoy SOBH but I think when it comes to playing with only a few figs I prefer something a bit more detailed. Mordheim is a bit clunky but it scratches that itch, there is also loads of quality fan made matireal out there. Even if your not enamoured with the Warhammer background there's so many different Warband list you could use it for pretty much any fantasy setting.
This is a great site http://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/ check out the resources board for all the rules and variants.
-
I played WHFB for about ten years, so no problem wiht that setting! lol
I own a Mordheim manual (didn't thought about it): I'll give a look to that site soon. The great matter is to convince my gaming mate! lol
Anyway: thank you for yuor information, and I wait for new dwarwes soon!

Finally took more pics of my (sort of) finished Dragon Rampant Dwarfs or is it Dwarves...

That looks brilliant. I really like the muted colours.
I found myself looking at my own LotR-dwarves, thinking I should use them for Lion Rampant, as well. :P
-
Wow! All the minis and terrain look great
-
Nice photography, nice paintwork, nice terrain. Its all so nice! That troll is menacing!
I am also using Lion Rampant, and Dragon Rampant when it comes out.
-
Really cool !
It seems that Lion Rampant and Frostgrave are the 2 fashionable games these days ! Reading all these things on it and admiring all these minis made me ordering them both lol
-
Thanks for the encouragement guys.
After reading a bit more about Frostgrave I can see me using the LOTRS figs for that game as well (if I can find a willing opponent), I was intending to use my Mordheim stuff but Frostgrave appears to be an early mediaeval setting so the LOTR figs might be more appropriate.
It seems both games, Lion Rampant and Frostgrave, have broad generic troop types so people can use whatever they see as matching the stat line and equipment.
Just in case anyone missed the latest issue of Wargame, Soldiers and Strategy (issue 79) has fantasy rules for Lion Rampant, they keep things quite simple adding rules for flyers, magic and the undead.
Edit: Changed the name of the thread so can lump all my fantasy stuff in here. Added my Mordor/Angmar forces to the blog:

:-* Incredible pictures. The scenic setting really shows off the minis (which are great, too).
-
:-* :-* Thank you for sharing, wonderful paint jobs and scenery, might have to get my unfinished lotr/ hobbit stuff out tonight
-
Excellent figs!
Cool to see LotR figs getting a second life through Dragon Rampant!
That being said, LotR the battle game was such a good skirmish game, it's hard not to use it... :) I really like lion Rampant though as well....
Thanks

Beautiful stuff. And the scenery is great, too.
-
Lovely paint jobs. Your scenic photos are just as nice. I think LotR stuff will work well with Frostgrave. The hardest part will be the wizard & apprentice miniatures.
I got the WSS #79 just for the Dragon Rampant article and the review on Frostgrave is what sucked me into buying that rulebook. But I am looking forward to the Dragon Rampant rulebook for my LotR stuff.

The Horde emerging from the forest is a FANTASTIC photo! GREAT WORK!
-
Thanks for all the nice comments :)
Neldoreth - the LOTR game is fantastic, still played semi regular at one of the clubs I attend, although they do tend toward large battles (at the club that is) which I don't think really suit the rules, shame really, I still manage to bully a friend of mine into a game now and then.
audrey - I've just made a short blog post about that, pictured below are some of the figs I'm considering. They are a mixture of GW (doesn't every one have at least one Gandalf?) and Perry crusader civvies.

Great choices of figures for your Frostgrave wizards and apprentices. Your Dwarfs and Troll look fantastic - great painting and excellent settings. I will take a look at your blog at my leisure over the rest of the weekend.

Lovely stuff all around.
