Nicely done, they look great! 8) Who will they be fighting against?
-
I forget, which mins manufacturer did you go with?
-
Figures are excellent. Here are just pieces of wood AK - be painted in black color - it is now made of plastic.
-
The figures are Elhim. I went with wood stocks for the contrast they provided. The minis have such great detail but its all lost in a camo paint job, wanted something to stand out more.
-
I agree that the wooden parts weapon looks more contrast.
Here are some links where there is a photo of a new Russian soldier equipment.

I'll have more posts soon with possible opponents for these Russians, you can see more about my overall project on my blog.

I would change any weapon`s wood paint to black. Wood on AKs is no more - everything has changed to polymer a long time ago. Here and there are still some SVD rifles and some PKMs with wooden shoulder rests. For more variety on figures you could also stick to black knee pads or gloves.
Just my 0.2 cents.

What paints did you use for them?

What paints did you use for them?
Are you asking about brand of paint or actual color names?
-
Colour names. I have some Russians of my own to do.
-
For the main uniform I used a mix of Vallejo Gunship Green and Flat Green equal parts. Then for the camo pattern mix the flat green or gunship with just a little bit of Dark or Iraq Sand to lighten it up. Then speckal German Uniform over top as its a very very dark green.

They still look good to me. Even with the Wood finish. :D
And thanks for the info Cuprum.
-
I decided to paint the weapons black and half the knee pads as well. It is not quite the contrast I wanted but when compared to some of my recently finished Ukraine Army minis they do look more advanced.

Those look very nice.
Thanks for sharing your pic. Always nice to see new minis, painted.

The painting of the new Russian camouflage on the figure 1/35. It is quite possible to use these techniques for 28 mm.

Oh clever. I'm just about to start on a batch of 20 individuals in Russian style Gortex Suites with Russian style tactical vests/body amour. That technique will work great for the vests.
