Title: Outrider Commission, but you know, Mad Max.... :D
Post by: Too Bo Coo on 29 March 2015, 03:22:15 PM
Hi All,

Not much posting for me this year, been hard at work finishing up a big commission for Dice Fest Games' Outrider game.  Wanted to share the first car that is finished that will be used by DFG for demo games.

What do you guys think?

Another mean beast!  8)

Does the game have factions or every driver fights and survives for themselves?
Title: Re: Outrider Commission
Post by: Too Bo Coo on 30 March 2015, 05:07:11 PM
No real factions per say rules wise. at least in the basic game.  But I've been playing around making casual ones for myself.  Mostly just 'Ganger' and 'Police Units' stuff.  So I try and theme my personal stuff that way.  For this project the customer gave me basic specs and I ran with it.  I think one of the vehicles is a 'police' try truck, but I imagine because this is for a demo game, he wanted all 4 to be different enough from each other.

What i really like are the little road sign touches TBC used. Very excellent.

How many demo cars you doing again?

Thanks Mate! 25 cars in total.  They're all built, all but the black ones (about 8 ) are in paint, and 5 are totally finished, including these.  Not bad for about 3 1/2 weeks of work....

Thanks for all the kind words :D  I'll post up the 4 cars I'm doing for DFG directly, but since some of the members are also pledgers getting cars, I wont post anything until they get them in November.  If Gregg the owner wants to do it earlier that's his prerogative, but I dont feel comfortable making that choice for him.  I'll just say, all the cars are totally built and are now in paint.  And they look awesome!

Not sure which is a good playable one, and at the same time allows the most freedom to choose/customize cars and weapons, hence my post  ;).
Title: Re: Outrider Commission
Post by: Too Bo Coo on 04 April 2015, 02:26:44 PM
The most flexible game I've played is Outrider.  In the basic game you can abstract the weapons enough that you can model more or less what you like.  Or use specific models from other games without conflict.  There are extra decks of mods that you can use to really customize your vehicle.  Gregg will be releasing cycle and truck rules in the Fall.

If you like some old school auto-combat, you always have Car Wars.  A bit more rules heavy and math intensive, but they just rereleased the basc classic rules for $20.00.

There are a few more rule sets also floating around, but these are my two favorites.

Hey Grimm, I think I forgot to answer this post... sorry mate.
The weapons are almost all from Elhiem.  The large bore weapons I made myself.  But the MG's are all Elhiem.  The diamond plate is from a mold I have.  I use green stuff as I like the flexibility.  I use the 'thumb nail test' to use it.  So I wait about 3 hours when the GS is hard enough not to take a nail imprint, but still soft enough to handle.  You can then form it to odd surfaces with ease.  I began the project by using diamond plate card, but I think this looks much better.

What do you use to make the mesh screens that you put on the VW bug.

You really do a wonderful job on the vehicles. This is something totally out of my skill set, so I can only sit back and gurgle with admiration at your talents. Looking forward to seeing your humans!

Thanks Mates!  I just love converting these cars!  It's such a joy, and to be able to share my work makes it just that much better! :D

So far everyone who's responded seems very happy with the pics of their cars, I could not be more pleased!

Now the ball is in Gregg's court.  I chat with him semi-regularly and it seems he's very much on track for November I think.  WOO HOO!!!
