Being in possession of the fantastic figures Jeff965 painted for me, a game of Geezers was in order over the weekend. None of us had played the rules before so the game was nothing fancy. I apologise in advance for the temporary nature of the terrain and figures bases, LAFers who know me know that's not my usual style. The thing is we were impatient to get a game under our belts so I didn't have time to base the figures properly and used half finished terrain pieces I've been working on for my Quatermass project.
Anyhoo, enough with the excuses. Here goes with some pics of the game.
The Scenario
It's Friday and that means wage snatches are on the cards. The Sweeney has had a tip off that the wages delivery to the Fulham chemical works are going to be hit. They aint wrong! Tosh MacTavish and his gang have had their eye on the works for some time and badly need the poppy to fund a bigger job in the city. Regan's nose is twitching about this one, he knows it'll be messy when it kicks off. He's rarely wrong. He's four up in the area car with Sgt George Carter, the stoppo driver DC Del Baker, and DC Ray 'Thumper' Barnes. An armed response team has been assigned for backup.
The security van is pulling into the works......
The Setting
The Fulham chemical works:

The Cast
The security guards, bless 'em (The van is still WIP):

Tosh MacTavish (far right) and his mob with their motors for the job. The gang aren't shy about using shooters:

Armed response team (The Rover is a conversion and still WIP - with thanks to Svennn and his spray gun):

The heavy mob with Regan in his usual good mood. The Granada is in the garage so the area car is a Rover 2000 today :

Pictures of the game to follow.

This looks like a cool set up Neil. I like the look of the chemical works.
I feel I should add "you slaaag" or something for atmosphere. :D

Maybe you could bring it to BLAM...?

The Job
Will it happen? The cash leaves the security van.
Yep! MacTavish and his gang make their move, blocking the security van and going for the poppy.
The player controlling the blaggers decided it would be a good idea to block the gates with the tanker to prevent the Old Bill from getting into the works. Problem is, it also blocked their escape route.
Firearms support arrives at the entrance to the works and tries to persuade the bagger guarding the gate to let them in.
Meanwhile the heavy mob make their entrance, they were already positioned inside the works. MacTavish sees his plan falling apart.
The blaggers starburst. Two make a stand and one bottles it, legging it further inside the works.
A quick exchange of gunfire sees a blagger and DC Baker go down wounded. MacTavish has had enough, it's a fair cop.
You're nicked sunshine! While being arrested MacTavish accidently falls on DC 'Thumper' Barnes' fist a few times. Clumsy that.
Regan gives chase to one of the blaggers. As in the TV series you just know he's going to climb up one of those ladders!
Sure enough he does, but after a quick stand off is cornered and gives up.
As for the blagger on the gate, his bottle goes when he sees the firearms unit drive through the fence.
He soon gives himself up. "Come on son, a pick axe handle is no match for my gun."
All in all, a job well done. Whisky and twenty Rothmans back at the nick. DC Baker will be on the mend in no time and the MacTavish gang is looking at a long stretch in the boob.
We had good fun with the game and the rules were quite easy to pick up. Guns can be quite devastating so for the next episode it's pick axe handles and fisticuffs all round.

;)
Cheers old fruit. I could do, depends on the interest as Overlord ran a Geezers game three or four BLAMs ago.
-
Brilliant, I'm lovin it. :-* :-* :-*
Cracking terrain and the figures are made for the scenario ( if that makes sense).
Jeff

Cheers Jeff! We're basing the episodes around the figures lol

Brilliant stuff! :)

Brilliant stuff!
Are the power masts scratch buildt or did you buy them somewhere?

Thanks chaps :)

They are made by a Japanese company called KATO, I think I got them cheap from e-Bay. Fenris sell 28mm scale pylons if you want something bigger. They are on my wish list.

looks fantastic - please bring to BLAM ::) :P
-
Lovely set up and fabulous terrain. It does look a little too neat and clean for 70s Britain. Actually it looks abot too neat for a chemical works at any point in time. That said it is a gorgeous layout. Looks like a fun game too.
-
Cracking looking game lightening goose! Good set of rules to boot, I think Overlords game must have been more like 7 or 8 years ago :o
-
Excellent looking game. Brilliant car choices, as well. Where is the white building from?
How are the Geezers rules?

Looks like the Plasticville Hospital kit.
Thanks.

Great report, thanks for posting. :)
-
Great report. This is one period that has certainly caught my eye. I wonder what you think of the rules. I have 7TV, and was planing to use those, but wonder what you thought of geezers
-
Great stuff Neil :-* :-* :-*
I would play this at BLAM no problem.
Nice set up where is the fence from?
-

Longer ago than that my friend, I think it was the very first one ??? :o
Great stuff, looks like a lot of fun and as the others say the terrain looks fab, bring it to BLAM. ;D
-
Fantastic work! Seeing them slags get what was coming to 'em fair brought a tear to me eye so it did. Great scenery and amazing paint jobs.
-
Thanks again for the comments chaps.
I'll soup it up to acceptable standards and bring it to BLAM then :D

Flipping 'eck! Time is flying gents.

Agreed. It's half finished terrain brought out at short notice but now it's going to BLAM it'll have much more work done on it.
Looks like the Plasticville Hospital kit.
That's the one. Think that was another e-Bay bargain.
Nice set up where is the fence from?
It's scratchbuilt Colin, I got the idea from a fellow LAFers post apocalyptic build. I'll dig it out for you. If I can't find it I'll post a 'how to' on this thread.
How are the Geezers rules?

I use both sets of rules and they are great. The Geezers rules are very easy to pick up and have a straight forward mechanism that leads to fun, fairly fast games that give you a feel for the period. As long as you bear in mind it's tongue in cheek you're onto a winner. A decent set of beer and pretzels rules in my humble opinion.

The Blags on at BLAM you Slaaaags! :D
-
lol
Shut iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!

Get your trousers on, you're nicked!
Looks fab Neil.

There are far too many slags at BLAM as it is.... ;D

It was, in 2008. I ran a game with Karl (Lowtardog) on a part built table.
If I remember correctly, in one game Nick (nick) was the coppers and was completely out-witted by Paul "The Cat" Matakishi. :D
I also ran it in 2009 with a completed layout:

Great looking table Neil. 8) Very "Sweeney", which featured a gasworks in a number of episodes.
-
Awesome game. I may pick up the rules probably the Geezers Royale first seeing as I just picked up some of the minis.
-
Great stuff here, I really like the chemical works.
