Directly from the first LPL round, some Bob Murch Melanesians lead by Volcano Queen herself and damsels in distress! The unlucky fellow in the pot is from Westwind.

I think you need 3 doughty sergeants in the Queen's service to sort out those Thuggee. XD

I thought you'd be ahead of me on that front. It'll be so much fun to play! :D

Superb Alex.I love that two faced (or is it three faced) statue in the background...
You must have trawled the aquarium shops of Germany to collect all those wonderful pulp-era statues and artefacts :)
-
Excellent work Alex!
Where is the chap submerged in the bucket from? I don't recognize him. ???

Just some further Pulp adventurers today, from another Lead Painters League entry. Only five of the figures are newly painted, the rest has been painted on several occasions in the recent years. But I had much fun putting together a classical adventurous scene for this one.
If you’ll find some little white spots on the miniatures in the shots below , so you have to know it’s not a light effect or my new painting style but the rest of the matt varnish, I didn’t found reparing them. Yes, I had a varnish accident again. I think I’m going to stop varnishing in the future, as my figures are mainly for display purposes. All that matt varnish thing is going to be too nerve-racking for my taste :-(
This special one is of course my favorit, an amazing interpretaton of Corto Maltese Rasputin, made by Mark Copplestone himself:
Corto Maltese (Foundry), also made by Copplestone, may not fail in this scene too:
The famous Casablanca Rick (Artizan Designs). He most suffered from varnish attack..
A guy from the secret police (Blotsky, by Pulp Figures):
A britisch advisor, Georges, made by Artizan again:
And finally a family portrait!

-
All wonderful. I love Georges' knitwear :-*

Each of your set-ups really has a pulpy feel. While I think my favourite may be the Melanesian set you started with (Tikis and Oceanic anything are a real passion), they all look absolutely superb. I may have missed this earlier in the thread, but do you game with them, and if so, what rules do you use?
Todd, the chap in the cauldron is indeed from Westwind. I believe he is in the witches pack from the Gothic Horror line.
-
Cheers, lads :)
I may have missed this earlier in the thread, but do you game with them, and if so, what rules do you use?
Nowadays I rarely do any gaming, only a few times in year. So they also are for my vitrines, I'm afraid.
-
I LOVe that scene... great little setup.
Who makes that Rasputin?
-
Who makes that Rasputin?
Our very own Remington, just ask him.
-
Fantastic work! ;)
-
Pulptastic.
-
I will indeed! Thanks Prof!
By the way, any chance of more shots of the trading post itself?

it's back to the box and to my basement already :) so no promise but I will try to make some shots next time I'm going to update this thread

Pulptastic.

Beautiful!
-
Most excellent Alex :-* :-* :-*
It's a real shame you only get to game a couple of times a year as it would be a joy to see these more often :)
cheers
James

excellent work! i love that rasputin figure too, and the westwind guy in the pot - two more on the ever growing list of things to get.

Last week at LPL I’ve decided to go with some pulpish stuff and created a scene with kinda military accent. I’ve used a wild mix of figures from different manufacturers like Copplestone, Great War Miniatures, Eureka, Pulp Figures, Lead Adventure Miniatures, Artizan and Westwind. One of the figures I even couldn’t identify (the guy with monocle, wearing blue uniform). As the name of the scene already told you, it’s placed somewhere in Germany, btw. there is no really a Hexenwald (Witch Forest) as far as I know. Some German officers are meeting with some military advisors and talking about some secret plans for whatever.

In the background you can see the LAM versions of Hammers (the guy with the dog and the baby, my LPL Round opponent) and Prof.Witchheimer (the guys with the mauser) meeting:)

Wauw, great paintjob and great flavorful scene

Sumptuous painting Alex. Terrific staging. Just the best.
-
Gorgeous work, Alex!
-
Lovely work there. :-*
I think the figure with the Monocle might be a RAFM? Possibly Space 1889?
I think I have him myself somewhere.....Lost in the Lead Mountain! ???
Fantastic scene though.

Cheers, lads :-*

Hmm..maybe..the sculpting style looks indeed very much like Bob Murch's earlier work for RAFM
-
Fantastic, all those different figures mixed together perfectly and such lovely painting. Superb! :-*
-
Awesome work. :-* I'm new to "Pulp", but posts like this are very inspiring.
-
Lovely scene. The aircraft kit is the 1/48 Revell Sopwith Camel?
-
Thanks, guys!

I'ts definitely a Sopwith Camel, no idea if it's a Revell one, probably you're right.
Still has to be painted properly :)

Hi,
Amazing stuff!!!
One small (dumb) question though. Do you use washers or coins as base? The thing is I've been wondering how you glue your models to their bases? Just plain old superglue or putty or something? And for basing, just white glue?
Sorry for the little of topic question.
Greetings,
Zeebeest
-
Thanks!
I use both, coins and washes, depending on the size of the model and I take wood glue to glue the models on their bases.
-
Thanks a million Prof.
Greetings,
Zeebeest.

I believe the unknown one is RAFM Call of Cthulhu

Most excellent pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Some great eye candy in this thread, I particularly like the scene with the German officers (and nefarious others).
Quick question, I have the Eureka chap but I have no idea who/what he is supposed to be. Anyone know?
