Title: 28mm Yemeni rebels
Post by: Super Mosca on 23 April 2015, 02:10:23 PM
As in, 1960s Yemeni rebels, not the ones in the news as we speak.

I've sculpted seven figures, armed largely with Lee Enfields as well as a Sten and an MG34.

Those attending Salute will have a chance to pick up a set, Nic will have a limited number available.

Fantastic stuff! I'm looking forward to painting mine. Now, do those beret and Glengarry head variants to the Brits you promised, there's a good lad.  :)

For folk wanting a little back ground and some footage of the insurgents have a look at this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J94dwNP18yI

Plenty of old footage including colour footage showing traditional dress. If you forwrard to 14.46 of the video, you'll see a mixed column of NLF and tribesmen from the Radfan. Just goes to show that with a different paint job you can het some further use out of some of the ZANLA guerillas Kosta sculpted and mix them in with these tribesmen.

I bought a small pile of these at Salute (virtually all those Nic had). They are simply superb. I look forward to this range expanding.

Anyone know where I can source a 1/56 Saladin armoured car or two? I have a Dinky model, but not too sure of the scale...

The Corgi Saladin is perfect, scale wise.

Thanks for the positive comments gentlemen.

I'm working on some Scots in Glengarry caps too, which will be completed pretty soon.

Woops, I really should have mentioned that these will be available from Eureka Miniatures. Until their official release, you can drop Eureka an email to order a set.

Great news! If not figures any chance of some beret heads for those of us willing to do the surgery ourselves? Many of the photos of fighting in the Radfan and of course IS in Aden itself show troops in berets. I'd be up for another two platoons worth myself.

Cos it's always worth a play.... 700 Glengarried Men.

That Sir, is feckin' BRILLIANT!!!

Rather teared up I did!!

Quote
"We do not know very much of the future
Except that from generation to generation
The same things happen again and again.
Men learn little from others' experience.
But in the life of one man, never
The same time returns."

T.S Eliot  Murder in the Cathedral

Despite all the Messtin badges in evidence there's a few lads still sportin' the Crucified Moose!!

Great figures as well, worthy opponents nicely done.

Kosta, is there any chance of the British in this range becoming the basis of a Congo range?

I just finished painting up a set of the Omanis - and have ordered 3 sets more. Very nice indeed and deceptively simple to finsh. Looking forward to the glengarrys, but in the meantime the guys in the flower pots hats are getting issued with tropical kit, I used Japanese uniform and a dry brush of green ochre to obliterate the fatigue dress trousers and shirt sleeve order that I had started on with a view to posting them to Rhodesia.

They're not listed on the Fighting 15s website, so you'll need to email them to order/confirm they've got them.
