Title: Switching to Humbrol Matt 33 For Undercoating
Post by: Atheling on May 02, 2015, 01:09:43 PM
Hi,

Unsurprisingly, if you've read the title I'm switching to switching to Humbrol Matt 33 For undercoating.

What I wanted to ask was.....

What proportion of Humbrol to White Spirit do you guys and gals favour for undercoating?

Darrell.

From reply's I had on other fora it's a 75% Humbrol ££ to 25% thinners..... does this sound like the correct ratio to you guys?

I want to use the Humbrol Matt Black 33 as it's much more permanent than Acrylic and a flatter Matt too. It also has the advantage of not missing things like the gaps/holes in mail.

Darrell.

I have (and will) favoured matt enamels for undercoating, usually in a colour suitable as a base for the main uniform/costume colour or flesh tone, otherwise white.

I work to an approximate 2 to 1 (paint to thinners) so the 3 to 1 you mention is probably fine.
