Title: 28mm Martians in the H. G. Wells style
Post by: oabee on 03 May 2015, 07:57:43 PM
So, over in the In Her Majesty's Name board Mr. Cartmell has revealed his (skirmish-level) rules supplement for the Martian Invasion of 1899, which is based on the H. G. Wells War of the Worlds genre.

As far as the tripods go, the various stylings from All Quiet on the Martian Front will do quite nicely, serving as scaled-down versions for 28mm skirmishes.

But that brings us to what I like to call the Cartmell Cunundrum, which is: where do I find suitable figures/miniatures for this lot?!?   o_o

I appeal to all the fine gentlemen and ladies of the VSF Adventures Board: which minis would you recommend for 28mm H. G. Wellsian Martian leaders, soldiers, slavers, drone controllers, and/or steersmen?

Mr. Cartmell's creation can be found in Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy Magazine, issue 76, and at the bottom of this page:

Thanks in advance for your help!  :D

or Parroom

The link to the store for the Parroom Station stuff seems broken. Try The-Cephalid-Menace. (http://brigadegames.3dcartstores.com/The-Cephalid-Menace_c_97.html)

Apparently, Black Hat won't let you simply hot link to a page; I get the 'Login or Register' screen, which I find a bit annoying. Still a) stalwart fellows otherwise, b) you're at the site, go have a bit of a search.

The Edofleini from Bombshell Miniature's Counterblast might do the trick.

Next, you'll be blaming EU conventions...  lol

Properly chastised, of course; I should have said 'The Black Hat site...'
