Title: Battles for Empire II - Anglo-Boer War
Post by: Saucy Jack on May 05, 2015, 07:30:38 AM
I have decided that my next project is going to be the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902. Most likely in Baccus 6mm. This will be my first colonial project.

I have looked at Too Fat Lardies battle reports of their upcoming rules "A Mere Question of Pluck" and they sound great. But there is no release date on them, so I want to try out some other rules in the meantime. I have come across Battles for Empire II and purchased the PDF - and after reading through them they sound solid.

I would really like to know what people who have played the rules think of them and whether they are suited for the Boer War. If anyone has any suggestions for other rule sets that would work pleases let me know as well.

I played in a play test game of these rules at the Durham Club's WorLard Day and you won't be disappointed with these rules.... there is an element of genius about the combat.... I will not say any more  :)

BFE II....they are our standard Colonial Rules at the club
Had a big game last night with them and they always give a good game
Read them carefully as there is a lot to take in
But worth it in the end

Came across your blog yesterday - excellent - despite not having even played the game I really feel a buzz about getting into the setting.

Wish I knew when the rules will be released.

That's a good reference. Was the game Boer War or?

To be honest I really have no clue as to when they will be released.   :-[

Maybe as a stand alone rule set or as part of a Lardie Mag?

Well, that's me told  :).

Seriously though, Richard Lard did have some highly impressive rules for the Second Anglo Boer War at the Durham WorLard Day.
