Busy making some base model motorbikes for Fenris Games, the idea being that you can customise them for post-apoc gaming. First off the desk will be a generic street bike, think Suzuki Bandit, as the model is loosely based on that bike. Next up will be a generic Moto X bike

Dude!! Thats brilliant!! :o :o :o :o :-*
Finally!!....someone's done a decent, realistic bike!!!!
-
That's rather bloody good 8) 8) 8)
Question about the wheel, are they modded from pre-done ones or are they completely from scratch?
Difficult question but when will these be looking at to be going on sale?
cheers
James

Any chance of a decent superbike too? Personally I'd love to see an Aprillia Mille. (Last bike I had before I gave it up for a more dangerous hobby....wargaming!)

That's be lovely :D
Also some real stripped down 'dirt bikes' wouldn't go amiss ;)

Ok
questions
1) Wheels, are modified from a diecast set, I cut them in half, filed them down, and stuck them together to form a double-sided wheel, then rebuilt the centres.
2) Release date, not sure yet, I hope to have the model finished next week, then its off to Ian at Fenris fro casting, he will them commission some suitable riders, soi don't expect it to be available until the summer.
3) Superbike- yes its a possibility, I have started on a Suzuki Katana (1980s classic) and expect something fully faired will be built ( that Aprillia is a beautiful bike)
4) working on a Moto X bike as well, basic model that people can add things to.
with the advent of the new Mad Max film, most of my model making will be geared towards producing things that can be used in a Post-Apoc road pursuit game, so expect conversion mods for diecasts, stuff like blowers, full engines, weapons, armour plate etc, plus a few complete vehicle models
-
Gonna do post apoc type bikes you will have to put some rat bikes into that production line.
Grimm
-
That's rather lovely. I'll need to start a post apoc themed project now. Lol

Thanks for the answers 8)

If things work out ok, then I will add some more models, just doing a few basics to start with. Post-Apoc roadwar games tend towards 20mm, so its a bit of a gamble for Fenris to try out the larger 28mm stuff
The bike models are just vanilla models, so the conversion possibilities are down to the individual, i will add some conversion packs as we go along, so ratting up your models is all down to your personal taste, lots of great conversion potential, so get hunting for suitable models.
Myself? I am using 1/50th stuff by Hot Wheels, and 1/50th trucks by Corgi, plus any 1/48th vehicles that can be pressed into service. The bike models are 1/50th scale to match the larger heroic scale miniatures, rathe than my normal 1/55th scale stuff :)
-
I'll be using them vanilla for my Akira project :)

Fantastic. We've been wanting to do some of these for ages as there are so few out there.

Well Uti, as far as I can see, no one does anything remotely like a Lambretta/Vespa, which would fit in very well with the theme of your stuff.

You read my mind ;)
-
That is bloody brilliant. Would love to see something classic like a 1960s Trumper or a Norton or even something a bit shit like a Bultaco.
-
Finally some proper motorcycle models!

Finally some proper motorcycle models!
Hear, hear !
At last we'll be able to get rid of those oversized matchbox bikes.
-
Look good to me.
Great ideas on the bikes.
Look forward to seeing the riders.
Will there be mounted and dismounted?
-
Moved it on a bit, managed to figure out how to do the exhaust downpipes :)
Just a few more bits to do, and off to Fenris it goes

Agreed! Brilliant!! 8)
-
Blimey, that's an impressive build!
-
Amazing, it almost looks like a real bike!
-
Most excellent! 8)
Will you eventually do Harley type bikes as well?
-
Another question, will try be metal or resin?
cheers
James
-
That is some shit-hot good work. Nice to see such fidelity in the model.
-
I think the finished model will be metal, as Fenris can put bikes and riders into one mould. He may make it available as a short resin run too.
I expect somewhere along the way, there will be something Harley-esque, because you just have to have a rat bike low rider :D
Once its all finished, I will pop up a set of pics, and add a few bits n bobs to show folks what you can do with the model.
Also making a selection of add on bits for diecast models, think hood mounted blowers, V8 engines, armour plate, pintle mounted weapons ( flamers and harpoons), and various other suitable gubbins, to customise your models. Gone down the 28mm route, as its the best scale for me to work in, not sure the old eyes are up to anything smaller these days
thanks for all the kind comments gents :)
-
Brilliant stuff.
-
Finally - motorcycles I can use for my Rollerball game!
Beautiful work. Further down the line, any chance of a big 'cruiser' bike, like a Harley-Davidson ElectroGlide?
-
Not tried anything with a fairing yet, so once I know I can make something like that, we can see what Fenris wants
Big Harley is a possible, as its useful as a police bike

Depends on the Harley. Never seen a cop on one like mine.

Now that is a nice bike :-*
and the sort of Lowrider I was thinking of.
As for Police bike, I was thinking more CHiPs, but I do like the MFP bike from MadMax
-
CHiPs were on Kawasaki Z1000's.
As was Goose I believe.. ;)

Thanks. It is a blast to ride too.
If you wanted to sculpt something similar I can take pictures from whatever angles you want/need. Just let me know.

Top job :D
Gonna get me some of these 8)
cheers
James
-
Do you ride a motorbike at all? This really is some serious and correct attention to detail!
-
These look fantastic, I've had IG rough riders on bikes as a kind of pipe dream for a while, these look like they'll fit the bill perfectly. Any ideas or guesses as to what kind of price point they'll be at?
-
Great work :-* :-* :-*

You wouldn't deny a cripple of his simple desires would you :'(
lol

Really nice. You are very talented.

Thanks for all the positive comments gents, it helps me along knowing that the model is heading in the right direction :D I don't have a great deal of confidence in my ability to do this sort of thing,
( yes, I know, its daft)
I am an ex-biker, rode bikes from the age of sixteen, up until I got married at 30, then thought perhaps it was time to learn how to drive a car lol
family commitments mean that I've not ridden in anger for a good few years, and sadly would not feel safe on a bike these days.
Not sure on the pricing, I expect its all down to how much the mould making and metal costs. I would imagine that Fenris would make the model available as a separate bike, for those of you who want to add your own riders.
Its been a blast making the model, and I'm looking forwards to seeing what folks do with it, once it gets released.
-
Done and dusted, and will be handed over to Fenris at Partizan
