I managed to get hold of a couple of Marders for my Stalingrad project, they right type this time! They cost me a bit as they came from Battlefront, but at least I have them now! More on my blog:

Thanks for looking!

Nicely done! I like the Marder, they look great in the Panzer Gray.
-
Thank you! Since posting these I have discovered that the gun shield is in the wrong place, should have checked my sources before putting them together....
-
"Normally, I'm pretty good with the differences, I just flunked on this one!" Hah ;)
Slightly annoying you got them wrong, as you've done a good job on the painting.

Thanks! I think I'm just not concentrating enough at the moment. I have just had to strip some German guns as the varnish went wrong. It seems to be the time of the year for all my mistakes to come out. :(
-
I get days like that. I had to strip a resin DUST mini the other day, drybrushing clothing details, and the basecoat just flaked off. WTF?
Nothing to do but fall back and counter-attack, I guess.

I've never heard of that happening before. It's always pretty hard when something happens in the last stages of work. Frosting from varnish has been the bane of my life...
-
I've been lucky so far. I use spray lacquer plus nice weather so far has equaled "success". I used the last of my Tamiya Semi-gloss yesterday, though.
-
Lovely work and I'm impressed with your Stalingrad project.
I like Marders and painted some Mk IIIs only to discover they only carry x3 shells in Battlegroup Overlord...
-
Thanks! I am glad you are enjoying as much as I am enjoying putting it together... slowly...
Anna, I use Matt spray varnish from Windsor and Newton, it's art spray but the best I have ever come across. However, in this case, I sprayed the guns, they remained slightly glossy, so I resprayed them and they stayed slightly glossy still. I then gave them a coat of Humbrol matt spray, but it went and frosted on me and nothing I could would fix it! So into the Dettol they went...
-
Oh, that's sad.
I'll have to try the Windsor and Newton. I've been using Krylon, no serious problems, but it's not a super matte.
-
TBH, it's the best I've ever used. It's the stuff in the big silver cans, not the small white cans. I can't recommend it enough!
It looks like this:

Cool, thanx! I'll look for that. :)
-
I can highly recommend their brush on varnish too.

Thanks, I will give that a try as well!
