Title: 28mm Oseberg/A-Frame Tents?
Post by: Argonor on 14 May 2015, 09:25:02 PM
Does anybody else than Krakenskulls make these, please?

They might do, but I would prefer something not quite as 'clean-cut'.

Would the Renedra plastic ones be suitable?

I'm guessing the warbases MDF one would be similarly too "clean cut"?

Hmmm... the Renedra tents are not quite the style I'm looking for, and the Warbases, yes, are very similar to Krakenskulls'.

May have to settle for laser-cut, then...

Well, thanks, anyway!

You could opt to order only the frames from krakenskull (just saw they well those loose) and make the cloth with pva-soaked cotton or linnen? It may be a compromise, but it would look a lot more natural than the mdf "tentcloth"... A bit more effort than simple off the rack assembly, though.

Hmmm, yeah, I have been toying with the idea of making something myself...

That is what I have done. I'll post some results when I get my airbrush fixed.

Definately the way to go. The Krakenskull ones look nice (the Dragon heads) but a bit too clean cut..(and after looking up Viking A Frame tents, possibly missing some struts?*) and all  being all  same size would, IMHO,  look too regimented .

Some thin twigs or  coffee stirrers cut to size  for the Frames and Modhail´s  tip of using material for the covering.

Oh, yes, the Kraken Skulls and Warbases models both lack the beams going front-back, due to the canvas being made from lasercut MDF  lol

I was at a re-enactment fair with Vikings today and took some pics (as I intend to build a 1:1 model at some point) - seems that a lot of the local Vikings use Saxon and Norman tents (and why not), so it should be OK to mix in some of the Renedra tents.
