Title: Steel Fist Miniatures Review
Post by: carabus03 on 15 May 2015, 12:17:18 AM
My local club Telford Wargames is planning a Samurai campaign to run in 2016 and then to take on the road to a few shows. We are at the very early stage and I will most likely add posts on this forum seeking advice etc... At the moment however we are looking at a miniature manufacture and rule sets.

So far we plan to start with a skirmish set of rules (Ronin seems popular) and then look into a growing campaign leading to large display battles with 6 main players and around 150 miniatures each.

In my hunt for miniatures so far I have looked at Steel Fist Miniatures, I contacted Oliver about buying a sample pack to show the club and at the same time I am trying to drag the club into the current century  :o  So we have adopted WhatsApp for general discussions and I have started a blog for members to use. This leads me onto Steel Fist Miniatures, I thought I may as well write a review of the miniatures when they arrive as that was essentially what I was doing for the club, as I opened the box and started snapping pictures to send to them.

So I thought I'd share the review with you all, as I have been hovering in and out for quite a while.  :D

Your findings are similar to mine. The casting is awesome on them.

Yeah I was blown away with the details, although they can also be a problem too, we have to paint the bloody things  ;D

I hope the other club members do a review of the other companies that they have, if not I might have too.

Anyone got any good Samurai painting tutorials???

This one can be quite useful

Trust me when it comes to painting lacing those details will be a life saver. Painting lacing on other manufacturers often requires you to guess where the lacing should be. Perry is hit and miss depending on the model. It seems to me the less popular models have clearer lacing on them and the more popular ones have more worn mould without the raised lacing to make your job easier.

Lacing is never easy to paint but having clearly raised lacing makes life a lot easier.
