Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,
My first post here on LAF which I only came across this week. Something I have had on the back burner for a few years,  a bit of WW1 Naval. Although quite expensive the detail on the models is great and l am more than pleased with the outcome.

Regards, Ken

Welcome Ken! :)

I still haven't decided which ships I want, but you indeed inspired me to start Great War Naval stuffs. :)

Cheers Anna,

I'd go for all the ships from one of the smaller actions. Dogger Bank is a typical favourite of the time and its where I'm going to start my collection,  when the rest arrive that is.

Looking forward to seeing your efforts.

Regards, Ken

Now that I look it up, I'm liking this idea. :)

If I can, I think I'll buy His Majesty's Ships Lion, Tiger, and Princess Royal next month. :) Love those names, especially HMS Princess Royal.

Extremely well done.

I like your atelier and think I will try my hand at it when I re-base my old lovelies from the WWI Royal Navy and the very fine High Seas Fleet of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

I also use matte board for the base material.

My three favorite sources for 1/2400 ships are C in C, GHQ, and Panzerschiffes.

Regards,
Sendak

Wow, I like the prices from Panzerschiffs! I could get both of the Lion-class ships I want for the price of one from GHQ.

The price for the Panzerschiffes is very good but there isnt a supplier in the UK. Would like to have one in my hands to have a good look at though, not convinced detail will be as good as GHQ but its a trade off vs costs.

I think what I'll do is get my Lions from them, paint them, and we'll see. I know GHQ's quality.

I wrote some guides a couple of years ago on TMP (The Miniatures Page) WW1 naval forum about sources for 1:2400 scale ship models. The different threads were about different sizes of ships, dreadnoughts, pre-dreadnoughts, armored cruisers, light cruisers, and destroyers/TBDs. Since my collection has models from most available sources (still don't have any Molniya), I've had a chance to review quality vs. price. Those threads should still be there.
