So I've been painting these orcs off and on for over a year now and have only really finished now. ;D
I've posted pics elsewhere but thought since I've signed up here now I might as well post them here too. Just going for the group shots so I don't spam with a huge string of images...

...and now I'm off to jump on the post apoc death car bandwagon. lol

Nice job on the skintones.
Ral Partha figures for the troops?

Yeah the orcs are the Ral Partha Garantua Orcs. The cyclops is also available from Ral partha Europe as part of "Das Schwarze Auge" range.
-
Lovely paint jobs on those. Second the sentiment with the skin tones; refreshing to have something that isn't in your face green (although I do like my goblins!).
I'll need to crack on with my band if we ever plan to get that game organised. It's only been what? 4-5 years now since or last one ;)
-
Really love those archers fantastic poses. Thank you for the posting I must get some.
-
Another vote of approval for the sallow skin tones from me. Which paints did you use?

Thanks, the regular orc's skin base is vallejo model colour Desert Yellow, shaded with a mix of desert yellow and dark brown and highlighted with desert yellow and bone white. Then all of that is wiped out by crappy photography. lol Initially i used desert yellow and saddle brown for shading but as the middle archer shows it was a little subtle so I switched to using german camo black brown in the mix.

Hopefully sooner than later. :)

Thank you, I've been looking to widen my palette of khaki/tan/drab colours and hadn't considered yellows.

lol I feel your pain!

That's some very nice painting on some nice figures.
How tall are they compared to more modern sculpts?
I've been looking for suitable orcs for my fantasy project, and these could fit the bill, size permitting...

They're surprisingly big actually, I would guess they really earned the name "Gargantua orcz" back in the day. The regular orcs are about 28mm to the eyes (well the ones standing up the straightest) and the warlord is about 32mm to the eyes. The other orcs in the range like the "Assault Line Cleavers" are bigger than the regular orcs as well at about 30mm.
I took a quick comparison with a Heresy ganger, Hasslefree mini and a GW Orc (no idea if it's current or not).

Eeeexccceeellent! :D
Looks like I found the orcs for my project.
Thank you for the comparison pic!

The minis are cool AND the paint jobs are OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!
-
They are sooooo beautifully ugly! I like them very much!
-
Very nice work!

Apologies for a bit of thread necromancy but I did a few black orcs to go with these chaps recently so though I would throw them up in the same thread. Crappy photos as per usual... in fact worse looking at the originals. lol

Might even get to do a bit of gaming with them this weekend... :D

Well I haven't added to these guys in some time but decided to do some more for Orctober, because why not? Painted up the command pack as well as the drillmaster which I'll probably use as a beastmaster or someone to poke gobbos or something.

Lovely band of orcs!
That command group is great, may I ask where they are from?

Cheers, They're Ral Partha "Gargantua Orcz" which are available from Ral Partha EU. I have pretty much the entire set to get through at some point.

How did I miss the command pack when I bought mine!?!
I got a pile of them for use as LOTR Olag hai, not painted yet obviously
Love your paint schemes
-
Nice, thank you. I love RPE's stuff so they'll go on my rather long list for the future!

Another year, another addition to the orc warband, finally finished the mounted orc conversions. I've also fixed the photobucket links in the thread and added a bunch more pics to the first post.
So the Ral Partha Gargantua Orcz range does have mounted options but I'm not keen on them. There's two mounts but only one pose each and one pose per orc type (spearman, archer) with one of the mounts being so large it's more a monster than cavalry. Anyway I picked up some Reaper Bones orcs that were sculpted by the same sculptor (Bob Olley) and some cheap plastic dinosaurs to roll my own.
Starting from this...

Nice work on the dino riders :-)
-
Decided to take a pic of the warband thus far, unfortunately managed to get a single blurry pic before my camera gave up... still, starting to look vaguely impressive (for me). ;D

Nice work on orc dino riders!
-
Pretty cool thread. I like the skintones and the sculpts are really cool.
-
Lovely family photo of the orcs. Very nice work on the dino riders. The sculpts are so full of charactor too
-
They look superb. I have a load of theses as well, I'll have to check out the Bones orcs now!
-
Thought I would repurpose this thread instead of creating some new ones as I get stuff painted. Actually finished a little warband and got the terrible pics to prove it! Been working on some undead for a little while as I work toward have a few different forces for skirmish/RPGs.
One of my favourite Confrontation models, the necromancer Ejhin De Vanth that I finally managed to pick up a few months ago.
An old vampire model from Troll Forged. The face was a bit flat so I gave him a bat nose and longer ears.
A bunch of old GW ghouls I started repainting years ago hence the horrible thick blood on the knives, I couldn't be bothered scraping it off to repaint.
More old GW models, this time the original plastic skeletons. Used the Skeleton Horde contrast paint on these, about the only one I've found useful so far. I padded out the numbers with a couple of awful bones skeletons, they're from the first KS and it shows.

Where would an undead force be without some zombies. Mostly Heresy (and old Spyglass now owned by Heresy) padded out with some bones minis again which look better than the skeletons. I tried to repose the Bones zombies with hot water but after a while they unfortunately reverted back.

Oh and a Bone Golem for when you need some muscle... without any muscles ironically. This is a Mage Knight model I stripped and repainted. used the contrast paint again for the bones, worked quite well with the texture.

Some great brushwork in this thread!
-
Some really lovely brush work. I really like that vampire figure and those Ral Partha orcs look great.
-
Wow I really should update this thread more often... Managed to actually paint a bunch more stuff over the last year.
I found for some reason I had like 50 or so Red Box Games zombies so decided to add some more to the shambling horde.
They're a bit more slight but blend in with the rest just fine.
Also finished up some nasty giant worms from the long defunct Troll-Forged Miniatures. Not explicitly undead so they'll probably find a place in multiple evil factions.
...and finally for the undead a 3D printed dire bat/varghulf. I picked up a 3D printer last year with the original intention of using it solely for terrain but it turns out to be fairly capable of printing minis too, even if not as well as a resin printer. Painted this guy up to match the vampire I did earlier.

my goodness, some great gribbly stuff there!
-
I really like those worms and varghulf
-
Wow, that 3d printed Varghulf is really great, even more considering it doesn't come from a resin printer.
