Hi guys

I bought these 3 D prints years ago, finally decided to do something with them, they are quite grainy, so I gave them a sanding down with some nail files, and I will give them a coat of varnish to smooth them out, the sculpts had 2 drivers in each, they are way to small, so have cut them out, and will replace with converted minis, (the minis in the pics are only placed for testing, I have cut them down since to get a good fit) the 2 without wings will be manned with scout, 2 in the front and 1 in each side door, the other 2 will have 2 normal marine space crew.

Thanks mate

Hi guys

These guys are ready for undercoating (can anyone think of any improvements before I do this?) the side crew are only blu taced on, I only gave the Space Marines beaky helmets, back packs and shoulder armour was not going to fit in the cockpit. The morning sun glare is hiding all the detail, I'll take more after the undercoat.

Title: Re: 15mm 40k project, land speeders ready for paint
Post by: Gunner Dunbar on August 07, 2019, 07:35:42 AM
Hi guys

I gave the speeders a couple of coats of PVA to try and smooth out the surface, despite the rough finish it is an improvement, and will at least seal the surface to help the paint/washes from being soaked up by the spongy plastic. Will start the painting tomorrow.
this next model was printed by the same company, it is based on a Thunderhawk, but his to small to be a 15mm Thunderhawk, and is more suited to 6mm, I have tried to bulk it out with card stock armour plates, and will use it as a small drop ship, carrying maybe 2 squads.

 Hi guys

13 years ago I started a 15mm 40k project, and have done a lot of work on Blood Angels, Tau, Sisters, Dkok, Inquisitors, and Chaos (Nurgle) but I haven’t touched the project in about 5 years, so I’m getting back into it with Tyranids and Genestealer cult, I’m using Khurasan miniatures xenon as the basis for the genestealer and Termagant conversions, a Khurasans xenon queen has been converted to a hive tyrant and plastic parts were used for the Tyranid warriors, I have used grey stuff to sculpt the armour plates, this is the beginning of a much larger force, also in the pics is a Crassus armoured troop transport, I am adding that and a Gorgon troop transport to my Death Korps of Krieg force, I’ll show those in a future post.

For sci fi, 15mm is my scale, it’s easier to store, quicker to paint, and costs a fraction of the price.

Hey Gunner,
Good to see your work again. LOve it ...

The speeders came out great as is the monumental conversion work on the nids , one little bugger at a time.

Though personally I prefer my nids as HtH ones without any technology (?) ....

I can definitely agree with that, the prices drop amazingly rapidly once you move to 40k in 15mm. Plus you can convert the plastic GW 'nids to much bigger 'nids that you might never have afforded. I have GW 'nid warriors that have become carnifexes, hive tyrants and trygons! It's quite good fun doing the conversions as well.

Makes sense

My main sci fi forces in in 6mm so very much get the benefits of smaller sizes. 15mm seems to be a much less common scale for Sci Fi compared to most other periods

 Hi guys

I have always wanted to do a 15mm Gorgon heavy troop transport, as I get back into my long stalled 15mm 40k project, I’ve decided to pick my Dkok project back up with a couple of heavy troop carriers. Need to paint a few details and start the weathering. The decals on the front ramp are very old GW decals, and they fell apart trying to apply them, but I managed to save the they came out a little lumpy, I’m hoping decal softener will flatten them out, if not I’ll use some strategic mud to cover imperfections.

Now those are huge lovely monsters of a vehicle , Gunner.
And the infantry stands really fit the bill.
Excellent job. Are those stationforge models ?

I’ll use some strategic mud to cover imperfections.
A veritable life saver  ;) lol lol lol
Don't you just hate it when that unique decal , you've been saving for years for a special project just breaks up ?!!!!
( I have some which are some 30 to 40 years old )

Sometimes it is worthwhile, taking a pic of them/ scan them & print them on an inkjet or laserjet ( laserjet is much better but you have to have
laserjet decal paper )

Those decals are probably 25-30 years old, the eagle was very yellow on the paper, but went on the model whiter, it broken into 3-4 pieces, but I manoeuvred them into place, the industrial stripes were more fragile, but I got them into some semblance of order, I’ll let the decal softener do its thing over night and seal them tomorrow.

Hi guys

13 years ago I started a 15mm 40k

And I’ve been gleefully enjoying seeing your updates all along! Really great work and very inspirational. 15mm is a great scale for 40k, since you can still have detailed infantry but also space for the gigantic vehicles of the setting.

Thanks for continuing to share!
Title: heavy 15mm troop carriers finished
Post by: Gunner Dunbar on September 04, 2025, 08:03:27 AM
 Hi guys

Going to call these 15mm heavy troop transports done, I usually like to base vehicles, but these are pretty big, so I may leave them, in this 15mm sci-fi project, I will go back to painting my Nids.
