Title: First Bolt Action Battle Report
Post by: Astor on 30 June 2015, 09:09:54 PM
Hello chaps,

Last night saw our club's first game of Bolt Action - a whopping 2000 point Germany vs US battle, with lots of toys. We had six people playing (well, five with me taking notes and pictures), but it was very informative and a lot of fun, and I think it may have convinced even more of us to join in with the fun!

It was really great to see the system in action, especially as I was a bit hazy on some of the areas - pinning, being one of them, and also the random activation - I was struggling to get my head round it when I read the rules, but after seeing it in play, it made for quite an interesting, and fluid game.

I think 2000 points might have been a bit too big for an introductory game (as it was we didn't manage to fit in all six turns), in hindsight, and we'll definitely be sticking to smaller battles from now on, but it certainly looked very pretty.

I've put a more detailed account on my blog, along with some more pictures, here https://beangoestowar.wordpress.com/2015/06/30/first-game-of-bolt-action-battle-report-first-impressions/ (https://beangoestowar.wordpress.com/2015/06/30/first-game-of-bolt-action-battle-report-first-impressions/).

Interesting to see how the game revealed itself to you slowly through play. There is a three part video by a gamer called 'Panda', that gives a real insight into the tactics and system via an AAR.

i like these sort of posts as it takes some of the learning curve out for me and there is an honest feel for the game.
