Hello,
Managed to get the one on the front of WD done.
For more photos go to my blog:http://stevosminisoldiers.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/age-of-sigmar-stormcast-eternal.html

This colour scheme definitely works better than the Gold and Blue of the studie-miniatures. I'm not 100% sure on the tone of the base, but I really like the turqoise armour. And the gold detail looks great!
-
Thank you sir. I will play around with the base, see where we to.

How was your shield arm? The one I had a play with (someone else bought it) didn't line up at all. The locator piece on the body wasn't there to match with the one on the arm and the shield prevents it from sitting flush on the flat arm. The resulting join point is tiny.
-
Hi Dewbakuk,
The arm sits really close to the body, it took me a while to get it into position but it is snugly in. It is tricky to paint behind it though!

Maybe yours is better... I'll take a photo
Hopefully, as you can see, the shield arm is shaped with a curve join and has a locator recess, while the corresponding point is perfectly flat.
-
The one my son got looks the same as yours Dewbakuk. I trimmed it a bit and it seems to be holding up fine.
-
Not actually mine, it got left behind at my house so I can't do anything with it ::)
I could certainly trim it to fit but this is a model being given away to showcase the new range...
-
The lip sits above the arm the shield is very close to the body!
-
You're probably right Stevo, but that just then leaves a different design issue in the step of the armour plate.
-
That looks great, the white mask really makes it work and takes a bit of the space marine-ness out of it.
-
Thank you lawful evil, I thought a green face wouldn't work and it drew the attention to the focal point of the model!
-
Beautiful paintjob and the white mask, as Lawful Evil says, is a touch of genius that makes it "click".
-
Thank you Monotaro
-
GW should pay you to paint their stuff. Way better than the studio job: it's much easier to see what's going on with the miniature.
-
Thank you Blacksoilbill, I am no where pro level, I think I may have just hit on a good colour scheme!
-
I'll be stealin' that color scheme. So thank you.
-
Imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Thank you Dentatus, please post up when you have painted one I would love to see!

Hi,
I have changed the base so wanted to add an update.

Still don't like the model, but you did a good job on them. Good alternative colour scheme, and the whitish face mask gives him a bit "automatronic" feel, just like the fluff. :)
-
Thank you Duncan

Great paint job! The pale helmet is a great touch.
I don't mind these models - with the exception of the ludicrously oversized weapons. Presumably, they're made of foam! I think the figures would look much better with realistically sized warhammers (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/63/Paolo_Uccello_037.jpg).
-
I do like the look of the new models. Especially the Chaos ones. Aren't these guys meant to be like possessed suits of armour or something.
-
Not read too much of the background yet, looking closely at the art they have eyes behind the armour though
-
Nicely done! :-*
I've ordered my box set and can't wait to get them.
I really like the minis.
-
Thank you
it was great to paint and the new base I think works lots better!
Cheers

That's a very valid point, the gold armour paint job does 'confuse' the eye and obscure quite a bit of detail on the miniatures
-
I just couldn't face painting all that gold. I am not the best at large metallic areas.
-
Well I've kinda stuck to the GW tutorials so far, but as I'm starting to experiment more, I'm learning the key to smooth blends is using the Lahmian Medium rather than water for diluting the paint.
This makes the layers easier to work, as the more you brush the Liberator Gold the more shiny and Silvery it seems to get as the Pigment is dispersed.
I'm getting faster with it, but at the moment speed isn't my top priority, I'm just enjoying the look of the finished models as they rank up on the painting table
-
Hi Omac 247,
I would love to see some of your painted stuff. Can you post some images or share a link.
I really struggle with the metallics so it would be great to see
Thank you

I can't seem to get an Image posted at the moment, but I've put one up on my blog.

You can clearly see the bits that need 'fixing' as they look grainy under the camera lights
-
That is looking great Omac, good work!
