Isn't he Harry the Hammer in his old version ?
-
Yes and no? There seems to be some confusion to his name, I want to say yes, but the last time I did I got shouted down on the Old Hammer FB group.... lol
-
Pure pedantry forces me to point out that he's Uthmog Elvenbane - no blade in sight! ;)
-
Yes and no is the right answer! :D
He was Gothmog Elvenbane in the Chaos warriors boxed set. And there was a Harald, 'Harry the hammer' in the Heroic Knights of the known world boxed set, which is where the name came from.
But Gothmog was obviously sculpted from the 1st edition Warhammer game art, and over the years the 'Harry the Hammer' name got associated with the Warhammer cover character. By the 25th anniversary Warhammer release, it ended up 'official'.
Looking good with the paint! Nicely faithful to the art too. I've got one of these in my painting queue, but he's been there for about 30 years now.... :(

I'll see your pedantry and raise you an obsessive compulsion.... he was Gothmog Elvenbane in the First Citadel Compendium, but was Gothmog Elvenblade in the Second... my knowledge of 31 year old typos in minor publications is extensive.
I really must get out more.

I've just checked the first compendium, and he's certainly Uthmog Elvenbane in that! You're quite right on the "blade" typo in the second compendium, but I think he was always "bane" on the box. And certainly always Uthmog!
Likewise ...

Name aside, what do you guys think so far? :P
-
...Uthmog... certainly always Uthmog...
You are absolutely right! I read 'Uthmog' in the Compendium, had 'Uthmog' in my head, and typed 'Gothmog' instead... I blame over-exposure to LotR (and tequila!) ;)

Paint looks good already! What do you still have to do?
-
Cheers Mate! I want to add some more highlights to the copper, and then I still need to do the ornage/black checker strip in the back, finish up the hammer head, put steel bottoms on the boots and a little final clean up. I figure I'm about 80% done.
-
Looks good to me too! What do you have planned for the base?

Cheers! I'm going to put him on a clear disk. I plan to use him as an antagonist for my Otherworld Skirmish games :D I'll be using my Dwarven Forge tiles, so I like the look of the clear disks for that.

Done! (Minus base :D)

Thanks for the history lesson guys and nice paint on the mini. This old school chaos warrior kick ass !
-
You were right about the highlights, that's really made the armor pop.
-
Thanks Mates! I must admit, I'm very happy with how he came out. I used the Burnished Copper triad from Foundry and added a bit of silver to the lightest copper for the last highlight.

Looks great bud! :-*
