Aventine Miniatures' Italian Hill Tribes Command, intended to command one of the 'allied' contingents in either Pyrrhus' army or the Roman army, depending on circumstances. Just my usual block paint and splurge with mucky varnish job. Shield transfers by Little Big Men Studios.

Terrific! You are so modest, the tartan cloak is perfect

Very nice indeed. Lovely patterns on the shields and cloaks.
-
Mightily impressed, especially like how you tackled the Tartan. 8)

"Sorry boss, that 'un got a bit too close for comfort, eh?" Or something like that? lol
That's nice looking command group, very effective and colorful. And I like the scatter you used. Looks kinda mossy, is it some fine tree foliage scatter type?

Thanks… It's a mixture of Woodland Scenics 'Fine' and 'Coarse' turf - in 'Burnt Grass' colour - I keep it in an old ice cream tub. I always apply two 'layers' to any base… White glue, one layer of scatter; allow to dry; soak with diluted white glue, apply a second lot of scatter and wait for it to dry. You get a much 'lusher' effect.
I've just realised that I've forgotten to add any tufts - I'll do that later - the missus wants to watch 'Kingdom of Heaven' now so who am I to argue?

ok, thanks Phil. I will see if I get get some of that locally. I know some model train shops that have at least the coarser stuff.
-
Lovely. What tribe are they?
-
Thank you. I'm not sure which tribe yet. I have some Volscii, so they'll probably end up commanding them.
-
Phil, those are stunning.
They have a proud and noble character to them, but I fear it won't go well for them against Rome!
-
They look great. Thanks for sharing.
