Title: Black Scorpion Tombstone and Others that may match

  Hello

  Being new to this, reason for maybe 2 silly Questions.

Q:1
I have just brought the Outlaws from Black Scorpion Tombstone edition, and I'm wondering what other
companies are close in the same height that I can mix with these that will look right?. 
Reading BS web site, It reads 28mm to eyes and 31mm overall.

Also another Question please.
I'm wondering what would be the best western rules that are the easiest to learn around?
Gutshot,TRWNN,Legends of the Old West, or Dead Man's Hand etc.

Some of the Malfaux stuff may work...its about 32mm...

Check this (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=65379.0) thread for some comparison shots (not my work, I just happened across it).

I have some of the Scorpion Tombstone range - they mix well with Copplestone and Artisan, too, but the (admittedly rather limited) selection of Malifaux stuff I have is pretty much a whole head taller than these guys.

Can't speak much for Wild West type games, but if you're wanting a small scale (3-10 figs per player) plus some psuedo random narrative elements, I'm just getting into Pulp Alley (http://pulpalley.com/), and that would work with a Western theme pretty well - folks are using it for Pulp, Star wars and all manner of other themes.

Reaper chronoscope are on the larger side and may fit better

Reaper figures will definitely work, though they may be a hair slimmer.  Also Galloping Major's small Western range is a good match.

Hi and Welcome  :)

Minis:
As You can see in the Picture of Deedles there are many differences in Size and proportions of different manufacturers.
I mix up different manufactures because in real life the size of people is different too  lol
The best Old west minis fitting those Black Scorpion Stuff would be the ones Blue Moon is manufacturing. But they have big variations in Size (some of the models are smaller, some are bigger).
Other manufacturers (like Artizan) use Miniature Stands. If you glue those on 'normal' bases the minis look bigger as they are. Be carefull with some older Foundry Stuff (those made by Mark Copplestone) which are in 25mm. They look a little bit like dwarves next to Black Scorpion Minis.

Rules:
Back in the Days I played a bunch of Games using the Legends of the Old West Rules. As a former Warhammer player I liked them (even today they are great!). But the Books are Out of print (making them expensive on second hand market). I consider buying some rules that are still available instead.

Personally I love Dead Mans Hand! The rules feel very good and the game mechanics are awesome. You can think of a fast-paced italian western  8)
I made a single preview game of the rules in my local gaming group: Now everyone has an Old West Posse ;)

Placing smaller figures on pennies to give them height only works if the weapons are in proportion.  Black Scorpions weapons are in scale with their figures.

For rules you could also consider Fistful of Lead (downloadable PDF). They're a lot of fun and easy to learn.

Sorry for the late reply.

Personally I mix Artizan and Black Scorpion and they look well together, I echo the Foundry 'heads-up' as many of my civilians stem from that range and can look small in comparison, but I tend not to let that worry me excessively.

As for rules, I personally never liked LOTOW, found them very unforgiving if you got a little behind. Fistful of Lead is supposed to be easy and fun, although I've never tried them. My personal 'go to' rules are Two Hour Wargames Six Gun Sound which has EVERYTHING, including campaign rules but might take a game or two to get the head around the Reaction System. Dead Man's Hand is another good system with a card mechanic and being a skirmish system you don't need to invest a lot of money in it either to play.
