I am finding Ohterworld's little teaser videos about the game play to be more annoying
than 'teasing'.
Does anyone have an actual review of the rules system and how it plays yet please?
I'm trying to justify the cost to myself but so far BoB / Epic Heores is ahead due to
being able to get information.

Apparently it's by the same guy as 7tv and is somewhat similar. So checking out some 7tv reviews might not be a bad shout

There's a review in WSS 79 which is still knocking around in WH Smith in the UK
-
Thank you both. Not quite what I was hoping for, but thank you nonetheless.

You understand the game has been barely pre released, yes?
-
And some of us haven't even got the pre-releases yet - still waiting with baited breath.
I had a quick look over a copy of it on Friday and it looks really good.
-
Hiya - not an official spokesman, but I understand it will be released later this month.
It's based on the Crooked Dice action:engine, most similar to the 7th Voyage rule set. The videos give a pretty good overview TBH. There's a LAF OWS thread that also gives some info.

Plus the Otherworld forum also has a dedicated board where Wayne has been answering questions since the game was announced.

The official release date is the 19th - rulebook and bundles are in the Otherworld shop here (http://otherworldminiatures.co.uk/shop/product-category/otherworld-skirmish-rules-and-accessories/).
Cheers for reminding me about the official Otherworld Forum - I'd forgotten about that :)

It's kinda quiet there, though. Hopefully, there will be a bit more buzz once it's released.

No, I didn't realize that the pre-release was going slow.
I do know however that I'm not going to shell out $74 dollars U.S. plus another $11
for shipping from them without a better idea of how the game goes.

I think a lot of the OW guys are away on holiday about this time. So that may help explain it. But as Karl wrote, if you're familiar with his Crooked Dice products, you have an idea about the mechanics already. I have two versions of their game, 7TV and 7ombieTV, I really love them both! So I know I cant wait until my copy arrives! :D

Yeah...I've played a few games of 7TV and 7th Voyage and really enjoyed them. I also seem to remember reading that it would be pretty easy to use bits from Otherworld in 7th Voyage and vice versa. Looking forward to getting my copy soon!

Richard said that all of the minis in the Otherworld like will be included, and they will release a campaign and gang maker rules soon. This is the game I've been waiting for!

I have just put not a review, but a comparison of Otherworlds and Frostgrave on my Blog;

Thank-you for the review, Tony. It is very informative and helpful.
I have ordered Otherworld because of the way it goes back to early 1980s D&D which I enjoyed as a student. It sounds to be spot on for what I want.
It should arrive in a day or two so I can see for myself.
Frostgrave has not tempted me yet but, next time I am in England, I will look for a copy in a bookshop.
Regards
Mick

If Olde Skool is what you're looking for then I would agree. Otherworlds would be better for you that Frostgrave.
Enjoy.

Very fair review Tony - many thanks. I was certainly aiming for that old school look and feel in the layout and design, so hope it hits the mark! Cheers Karl

Good review. I think I may buy a copy of the Otherworld rules as they sound like my kind of thing. While it is worthy of the praise it's getting, I am not sure Frostgrave is my cup of tea.

We'll be getting stock in the Crooked Dice webstore from Monday 24th Aughts too.

I'm a huge fan of the CD products and well, I own a TON of OW minis, so the marriage of these two great houses was a natural buy for me! :D

Eagerly (impatiently!) awaiting the arrival of my pre-order!
