Heya,
So I'd like to get back into some form of PA skirmish game, but I'm a bit unsure where to go, since there's a lot of options that each have their own charm.
But, beyond simple suggestions, I'd like to know what your favorite PA ruleset is? With a little rundown of why it's your favorite, if you don't mind sharing? By PA ruleset, I mean a ruleset that was actually designed for a PA setting, not a generic ruleset which can be adapted.
I know there's the Rules reference thread, but technical specifications don't really translate well to the fun factor of the ruleset as a whole like some personal experiences and shared wasteland tales do.

Seconded. It is good right out of the box, so to speak. Warbands range from 5 to 20 figs (max size), and plays pretty fast. Campaign system is a big draw for this game.

I have not purchased but read good things about Dead Earth Games.....
I purchased After the Horseman, while nice for solo play the rules to me were a bit complex and too much chart jumping. Great concept but the designed could have been better.
I just bought This is Not a Test, love it. Uses a d10 system for tests (target number and vs), also uses a d6 at points and uses card for events. Has multiple gangs with their own flavor, pretty much can use any figs from any line. Had a good bit of flavor for scenarios, equipment, monsters, mutations among other things. Worth checking out...to me it is on par with Strange Aeons and Shoot and Skeedaddle with the skirmish flavor. You can also go online and there are three battle reports (link is on this board) that gives you a good overview of the game (the first one goes slower to explain it) the other two are just games more or less.

My favourite is Wreck Age which is a semi role play system (can be played as a pen/paper rpg in fact). It has a very detailed background, well thought out character classes and skills/traits and great game mechanics. Really needs a group of players dedicated to the game to get the best from it, more suited to ongoing campaign and character development than pick up games. The supporting figure range is extensive and superb sculpts but works equally well with any PA type figures.

Across the Dead Earth is a simpler and less detailed game in the same skill/trait based style. Is much more suited to casual or pick up games and easier to get into. It does not have the depth of Wreck Age but gives a similar feel. Its supporting figure range is a bit hit or miss, rather crude sculpts and scale issues make some of the figures incompatible with others but the game works with any figures so this is an annoyance rather than a problem..

The other PA game that I like for a totally different game style is Eden. Very wide range of absolutely amazing supporting figures (even though you only need 4 or 5 for a game) and a "combo" play style that is on a par with early Confrontation for tactical intricacy and interplay between figures. A pretty intense game for serious study and regular players
