Let's start off with some painted uniformed cops. They are my first fully painted character models for BMG.

If you're interested in the paint recipe and some more photos (sadly not great ones) of the individual figures you can read about it at http://obsidian3d.blogspot.ca/2015/08/holy-first-painted-figures-batman.html
What do you think?
-
Very nice work.
The right mix of grim+comic book, ideal for Gotham

Jim

Thanks much!
-
Nice work!
-
Much appreciated.
-
YAY, More batman stuff!
Looking good.
-
Great work Charles ;)
-
Really nice work
-
Thanks everyone. I'm almost done the SWAT, detective and Gordon. I'm a little disappointed with the SWAT guys. I was trying paint them with somewhat realistic colours but they look rather boring. I'm going to finish up and post them soon, because they've taken enough of my time.
-
now this is a nice beginning, looking forward to see more :)
-
Very nice painting. :)
-
I'm on a bit of a tear this week. I got the SWAT, Branden, Detective and Gordon finished today.

Good work, like them a lot. Is that bullock at the back?
Regards
Jim
-
Technically no, he's GCPD Detective. He's a * henchman like the regular policeman and policewoman figures, so you can take multiples in the game. However, now that I look at it...I suppose the colours I picked are exactly like Bullock from the 90s Batman cartoon.
I imagine at some point KM will release a Bullock and Montoya figure, although it's hard to say when or if for sure. I'd really like a SWAT sniper and medic to round out the Law force options as well. Law has some good stuff, but I generally play them with one hero as support. Batwoman goes nicely with them. She doesn't lay down a lot of damage with her 5+ strength, but she's hard to hurt as well so she makes a good objective and henchman hunter.
-
Really nice work. Kudos. :)
-
Ace work!
-
Lovely Work!!
-
Thanks everyone.
I have plenty more figures primed and ready to paint. Batwoman is partially complete, as she was part of the police crew I was playing. After that I'm not sure what I'll tackle next:
- Batman leaders & free agents (AO & AC Batman, AC Robin, Birds of Prey, Alfred)
- Bane crew (w/ Copperhead)
- Joker crew (w/ Red Hood variant)
- League of Shadows
- Deathstroke & Catwoman
Any votes for what you want to see next?

I return once again to break the silence with more pictures: Batwoman and Catwoman.
I'm not super happy with the faces on these two, and all that black near-drove me insane (I almost said 'batty' but that would be a little too on the nose). It's likely I'll go back in on these to clean up Catwoman's skin to remove the 5 o'clock shadow, and the white over-step on Batwoman's mask just to feel like they're both totally finished.

Batgirl is next, who I've unwisely decided will also be garbed almost entirely in black. I must dislike myself of something...
-
Nice work fella!
Particularly like your batwoman, she's going to look excellent on the table
Regards
Jim
-
Thank you.
-
Love the blue on the cops, how did you do it?
-
I think there's a paint recipe on this post here. http://obsidian3d.blogspot.ca/2015/08/gotham-city-swat-figures-for-batman.html

Painted up my Poison Ivy starter box.

Excellent again mate
-
I'm really happy with this batch; even though I'm by no means a pro painter, I think I've been reaching a good standard with the BMG figures that I've done so far. Actually I think they look better on the table than the photos really show. I'm not a photographer and don't make any claims to be.
I'm torn on whether to do Arkham Origins Batman, and use him to do demos against Catwoman and Poison Ivy for 150 rep, or paint AC Batman and Robin, and use them against the Ivy starter and Catwoman at 200 rep. Whichever way I decide, I have to paint the heroes to go up against the ladies.
Any suggestions?
-
Love the Ivy - very clean paintjob and great work on the face (particularly the make-up), well done!
-
Thanks. Green lips seemed to make sense on this one, despite her having regular shaded sin.
-
Great work on all the minis! Having no experience about superhero gaming, how is that side of things?
-
Very nice work on all your Ivy crew. :)
-
Hm good question. We play BMG, Pulp City Supreme Edition and Supersytem 4th with some regularity. Since we split our time up amongst them we are still learning the nuances of the rule sets. I would say that BMG is the most strategic of them because of the restrictions and choices required when you build your crew, all the way through how you allocate counters to your characters each round. I enjoy BMG because of that, but some folks might feel it detracts from the superhero flavor.
In the game we have played so far it's usually one player with a few big characters against a gang like cops or something, so it does feel comic book like.
-
BMG sounds good then, thanks for your thoughts on it.
-
Don't discount Pulp City however! The turn structure is a lot more fluid than BMG as characters can act multiple times per turn, and if you put the right combination of supremes together you can come up with some pretty awesome synergies. They are both great games that capture the comic book flavour, but in very different ways.
SS4 is an acquired taste as it is sort of 'meta' when it comes to representing certain characters powers. I've found it challenging to port some of my 3rd edition characters over to 4th because I can't quite get them right. We have been playing a loose campaign with it though and it's proven to be entertaining so far.
Power Legion is another option for playing games with self-created characters, which I really had fun with in between SS3 and SS4. The two main problems I had with it were that it felt VERY difficult to damage other characters, and Ganesha Games released it but never went back to it to finish it off with the promised downloadable cards and the like. If they had, I'd probably be playing it over either edition of SuperSystem.
-
Sounds like there's too much possible choices to choose from! o_o
-
Not really. It's up to what / how you want to play:
- You like Marvel and DC characters = BMG / SMG
- Character archetypes / original characters = Pulp City
- Character creation / campaign play = SuperSystem or Power Legion
I like all of those things, and could just stick to SS4 or Power Legion, but I like variety in my gaming and so I sort of play them all.

Saw this on your blog and commented, but to say once again, great alt-colour scheme. :)
Nicely done. :)
-
Thanks again. I'm very pleased with the reception he's gotten around the interwebs. I'm looking forward to getting the Ivy starter box and this guy on the table. Looks like I need to arrange some games soon!
-
Very cool looking Batman and you have found perfect car for him 8)
-
Great work!
-
Really nice job on Batman, seeing this has actaully tempted me to paint up my spare Christian Bale BM as Batman Beyond.
-
I repainted a Heroclix Batman Beyond a fair while back, and even made a custom BMG card for him. I haven't been able to track down the Eaglemoss Batmobile to go with him though. :(
If you're interested in that, take a look here:
http://obsidian3d.blogspot.ca/2015/08/custom-batman-beyond-for-bmg.html
My next custom for BMG will be Arkham Origins Barbara Gordon. The mini has been finished for quite some time, the card needs a play test or two before I finalize it. I'm hoping to post it before end of the month.
-
Nice work dude they all look great. I am mulling over what to do my own GCPD (just the cops at the moment). I quite like your scheme I shall have to add it to the list of possible choices.
-
Thanks, it took me a while to decide on it if I remember right. The possibilities are broader than one might think. Sadly I haven't gotten a game of BMG done this month, although I might have a demo booked for Monday.
-
More stuff late painted in April.

Quite the motley crew :)
-
That Killer Croc looks great! :o
-
Excellent work dude! I have the Blackgaters in the paint queue. I must get me a Killer Croc though he looks ace!
-
We are currently playing 250 rep games so I haven't tried Croc in a game yet.
-
Very nice work on the April additions. :)
-
Loving that Killer Croc!!
All those new ones are outstanding.
-
Thanks for the comments all. I have a few more nearing completion this week, both DC and Marvel minis.
