I acquired one of those Age of Sigmar miniatures with the oversized hammers (the first thing to go under the knife!). I thought he might make a Moorcockian chaos champion for SBH and Dragon/Lion Rampant. So here he is - the Beloved of Pyaray:

And some more:

Very cool!

Very nice conversion! Love it.
-
Great job on that shield!
:o :-*

Great conversion! I really like the paint job and the shield is excellent. One minor detail, I kinda with the mace had a spike on the top.
-
Nice shield!
-
Excellent conversion, agree the shield is particularly nice work.
-
The freehand on the shield is just awsome ! :-*
Good job this is the best version of the sigmarine I ever saw !
-
Now this is a sigmarine I could like.
-
Great conversion and I really love that shield design!

Many thanks, all!

Yes, I think that would improve it. The mace is quite fragile, though - not, oddly enough, where I transplanted the head, but where the haft meets the hand (it's broken halfway through several times). I might try to "melt" a suitable spike on with plastic cement, but it will be a delicate task.
I showed the miniature to my son this morning and asked if he liked the octopus shield. "Daddy," he said scornfully, "That's more like Cthulhu than an octopus. Octopuses don't have reptilian eyes."

I thought you were aiming for Cthulhu, since it was absolutely spot on lol.
As said, nice conversion, best use for the Sigmarines I've seen so far.

Thanks! Yes, Cthulhu was lurking in the background (along with a nagging feeling that Pyaray was actually red - but never mind).
Here's the Beloved with some followers:

Excellent work 8) 8) 8)
Have you used a pen for the detail on the shield? That's not to detract from how good it is by the way :)
cheers

Yes, I used a pen for the very darkest lines on the shield. It speeds up the process considerably. I've been experimenting a bit with pens on miniatures recently. I remember that the painting articles by John Blanche and Aly Morrison that I read in my misspent youth were always recommending pens - but the right sort were prohibitively expensive then!
-
Rotring if I remember correctly. I used to read those articles as well :)

That's it! I remember trying with an equivalent Staedler pen, but the standard ink didn't appear to be waterproof ...
