Title: 1/8e Regiment de Ligne - Talavera

The 8e Ligne was the senior French line infantry regiment at Talavera under the command of Colonel Jean Autie who had been its colonel for six years prior to Talavera

The regiment could trace its lineage back to 1776 as the former Regiment de Champagne.

Cheers gustav, with another 17 battalions to go I really appreciate your comment.
Lots of fun researching these chaps, the back detail gives these units a character of their own rather than the generic French line battalion.
