With this new supplement for Frostgrave, players can lead their warbands into the vast network of catacombs, sewers, and dungeons that run underneath the Frozen City. It was in these dark confines that the ancient wizards known as Beastcrafters experimented on living creatures, creating strange hybrids and deadly monsters, many of which still roam the forgotten passageways. Along with a host of new scenarios, treasures, soldiers, and creatures, the book also contains rules for the traps and secret passages that are often found in the dungeons. With the wonderful and rare magical treasures to be discovered, will players risk taking their warbands down into the Breeding Pits?

Well that sounds nice! :)
-
Ideal. :)
-
A great excuse for introducing some fantasy races as as well, if desired - all hail the pig faced orcs and short humanoids who like tunnels. :)
-
So excited. Totally digging that cover art too, super super cool.
-
This tips me over the edge to get in to it now. Time to dig out the fantasy stuff and brainwash the children.
-
Well that's my birthday present sorted out then. (from myself of course).
-
June! So long to wait!
-
Exciting!
-
That gives me some time to paint!
Might actually have a few things done by then.
Nice :D Very.
-
I sense a reason to paint some Skaven. :D
-
They remind me of old school gnolls
-
June huh? Good. Plenty of time to save up and prepare me some dungeons!
-
Imagine a plastic creature boxed set that would be awesome! Really looking forward in grabbing this expansion and the Thaw of the Lich Lord supplement.
-
Yes, exciting !!!
Great job...
:D
-
Oh for goodness sake! I haven't even had a chance to start painting mine from the first Nickstarter yet! But, if I start building now, I could have some dungeons and tunnels ready by then... :D
-
Lets hope they do a plastic kit with humanesque bodies and various animal like heads. So, for example, you could make tiger men, dog men, tentacle faced men, etc., each with different stats and what not. Soooooooooo cooooooool!
-
It's the house of pain!
-
Oh boy!
The excuse I've been looking for to dump some cash on hirst arts molds. And plenty of time of realise my dream of a 3D dungeon :D
-
This looks right up my ally.
I am eager for more beastly bestiaries!
-
Awesome setting, I'm looking forward to this supplement!
-
That sounds like a bully idea! Thanks for keeping us informed.
So... will there be a plastic box set to go with? C'mon, you can tell us, we'll keep it quiet.

Poor summoner on the cover lost all his warband... :D
Sounds really great!
-
Poor summoner on the cover lost all his warband... :D
That will teach him not to split his party...
-
Is that 2 more nickstarters then ?? ;)
-
That Rocks !

I have a question, Joe.
Is there perhaps a chance you can give us some inspirational pictures from the book to help us getting prepped for this supplement scenery wise?
I know you and everyone else propagates making the setting your own, but I quite like sticking closely to the source material, and if there is a very specific feel or style to the dungeons, or something that it needs for the scenarios to work well, then I want to replicate that. Maybe specific kinds of rooms one can expect, or even something as trivial as the width of the corridors would be nice.
I had been wanting to do a dungeon for Frostgrave anyways, and this book has just put my enthusiasm for that to the next level. It would be greatly appreciated if I could get some hints on what my dungeon could benefit from the most so that it works as good as possible with the book.
Of course I understand if that is not currently possible. It's not like I have the time to get properly started yet anyways hahah. Maybe get myself an above ground table first would be a better priority. :P

I don't know if this will be a thing, or if there'll be metal minis; but in either case, would the sculptor know how digitigrade legs and cloven hooves work...?
-
So, will a player be able to run a beastcrafter warband then? ;)
-
I'd be interested in either plastic or metal beastmen actually. Are those cat or rat men in that cover? Having searched through Reaper's catalog I was surprised at how few human like beastmen they had (specifically I'm meaning ones which look like say the Argonians from the Elder Scrolls series rather than crocodiles with swords...), so even a blister or two from Northstar would be good.
Is this expansion currently still being written and tested or is it already signed off on? Just wondering as it was said that the base game needed to be sent off something like eight months before it was actually printed.
Anyhow, I'm all for this (I don't know about you, but I love expansions), and it'll be great to see what else comes out for Frostgrave in the meantime before Summer 2016. :)

Looks like an interesting supplement roll on June 2016
-
@ Fencing Frog
Heh, OK, I perhaps should have included a "semi-realistic looking, not cute as hell" clause. lol
-
Hi Joe,
Sounds fantastic - and time for a shameless plug. If you are looking for playtesters please contact us, devoted gamers and FG fans in Western Canada. We have experience in this kind of thing and it would be a privilege to get involved with this project.

Having "defected" from Warhammer Fantasy, it's nice to be excited about new releases rather than dreading them.
With a dungeon theme, what I think would be great would be to have a HeroQuest style dungeon-crawler set in Frostgrave. I miss HeroQuest so much; the game that started it all for me. With the crack-laced design choices that Games Workshop made, the old school fantasy feel of Frostgrave has been a breath of fresh air.
-
I just want rules for a horse mounted hero...(but looking forward to all the Frosty goodness)...

He'd bang his head on the roof in the sewers. lol

Finally an excuse to get some Splintered Light Rat Men!

I know it's still a long time until the new supplement will appear. But thinking about the terrain: would finished Dwarfen Forge game tiles be better or should I buy some further molds from Hirst Arts? What is recommended? Has anyone experience with both variants?
-
I've owned both Hirstarts and Dwarven Forge, and frankly they are both great. For me, Hirst arts eventually won out because it is much cheaper in the long run and allows for pretty much infinite variety and creativity. Probably just comes down to time though - if you've got the time and desire to make your own stuff, go with Hirst arts.
-
I opted for the Itar's Workshop dungeon. Cast in lightweight resin in complete sections but made from Hirst Arts block masters, so best of both worlds. Adding specialist rooms or particular passage designs is simply a case of buying a bunch of blocks pre-cast from one of the licensed resellers and gluing them up.
The Itar's pieces are totally compatible with any Hirst based pieces.
-
I've already used Frostgrave for a dungeon crawl and it worked well, so looking forward to this. Hopefully it will include a dragon!

I have tons of the DF "Dwarvenite" game tiles- for both Dungeon and Cavern schemes. Very easy to paint, almost indestructible (you can hit them with a hammer, drop them on the floor, etc., with no visible effect.)

Any more teasers you can give us about this release, or even the upcoming one with the cultists?
-
Wow, this announcement has me giddy with anticipation! :-*
Dungeon crawling Frostgrave style would just be the icing on an already very tasty cake.
And those bestial guys on the cover (what a teaser that is, btw) look a lot like Gnolls to me as well.
Luckily, the release date is some time off yet, as that still gives me a sporting chance to get my other Frostgrave stuffs in order first (yeah, right... ::) ).
-
What are those creatures on the cover? Wouldn't you guys like to gnoll! lol lol
-
I Guess it'll remain secret Gnolledge for now then... :D
-
Looks like I'll have another use for my 1st Edition copy of Descent.
-
ooops, as my editor has just kindly pointed out. Into the Breeding Pits is coming in July 2016...
However, there may be a few little surprises in store before then! Sorry about that.
-
One more month before we can go on a Gnollimits dungeon crawl next year won't hurt I guess. ;D
Ok; I'll get my coat...
-
We can rest assured with the gnolledge it is coming no matter what.
I'm sorry!!
-
There's gnoll need for all the stupid puns.
I'm sorry, I'm half asleep - I'll get my coat.
-
Yeah me too, I didn't even notice my joke was already used... Guess I was trolling... or gnolling in this case.
Silly stuff aside, the world is in desperate need of some good Gnoll minis. There is really only one manufacturer that produces Gnolls that I kind of like, others are all lacklustre at best.
-
Yup ... that's a bit of a Bugbear of mine. :D
I'm here all week.
-
You guys are really on a gnoll.
-
usually I eat popcorn during these times of forum silliness, but today I feel like chips and guacagnolly.

A whole extra month?
GNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLL!!!

Hey Joe,
Short Question. Will the Scenarios connect to a campaign like in thaw of the Lich Lord ? :-)

I hope this won't be kobolded together

You'd be barking mad to think otherwise.

I wonder if we'll see another plastic boxed set release, like the cultists. I would like to see the following:
Armored/Elite Soldiers - with parts to make knights, templars, barbarians, etc.
Wizards - perhaps a smaller kit in which you can make, say, four wizards/apprentices.
Either way, I look forward to the release.

I think an anthropomorphic kit with animal heads tails etc. Would be super.
-
There will ne 2 new plasticsets this year. I think that was announced in a northstar newsletter. :-)
-
Like Timeshadow I hope it's a kit to make hybrids. Like beastmen but with a variety of heads etc.
