Title: Who is your favorite Doc Savage figure?
Post by: Alxbates on 17 September 2015, 10:40:05 PM
The title of the topic says it all - who is your favorite miniature to use as Doc Savage?

I've seen a couple of options out there, but none of them seemed quite right.  I love the James Bama painted covers, so that's the sort of Doc mini I'm looking for.

I'd like a good Monk and Ham (and Pat!), too, although it's really Doc that I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Anybody got a figure of Doc Savage that is more in the style of the covers of the Pulp era?  The ones I've got he usually has his shirt on and more of a reddish tint to his hair.

I am a huge fan of Doc  ;D and so I had always planned to have them in my collection. I settled on the figs buy Bob Murch pictured above. This is of course is not everyone (pictured are Doc, Monk with Habeas Corpus, Renny and Long Tom) so I had to find a fig to represent Johnny, Chemistry and Pat savage. I only wish he had made a Monk without Habeas Corpus under his arm because I would prefer to have him on his own base.

I have used Reaper 50202 Gov. Agent Jones for Johnny. I simply cut away the gun. I found a small ape fig (cannot remember where) and I am still looking for a fig to represent Pat.

You can check out the fig I am using to represent Johnny and their version of doc (50122 PB Pugh Pulp Hero) at Reaper site here

If you have a fig for Pat post a reference please.

Yeah, Bob Murch's Doc is the closest I've seen, although I don't particularly care for Monk carrying Habeas Corpus.  That pig was ridiculous, and didn't look much like a pig, either, given the descriptions (I imagine it looking almost jackal-like, with long ears and long legs - perhaps it's a Salawa, the mythical Set Beast of Egypt!).

I'm still looking for more options, perhaps done in a more modern, less cartoony style.  I love Murch's stuff, but it's not quite what I'm looking for.

I agree. I was never a big fan of the animals but I had to have them represented because they are a part of the lore. I also would love to find figs that looked more like those on the back cover of the paperbacks. I would also like a Doc fig without a torn shirt.

That Reaper fig is pretty great - I don't think I've seen it before.  The pose is a little flat, and, frankly, Doc looks a bit on the small side - he should be like 6'4" or taller, but I think I'll have to get that one.  Reaper's "Shadow" and "Fu Manchu" figures have been on my list for awhile, too...

Thanks Matakishi!

I'm seriously considering making my own set of Doc & Pat and the Fearless Five...

*sigh*

But then I'd want to make a John Sunlight figure, too, and the Funeral Director, and the Annihilist...

Stay on target, Alex, stay on target!  Focus!!!
