Title: effects of embedded enchantments
Post by: Tinarm on 21 September 2015, 07:39:40 PM
Hello,

Am I correct to interpret that an enchanted item counts as a non-standard equipment and counts towards the one item slot for soldiers?
Does that mean that a standard soldier can not have both enchanted armour and enchanted weapon?
Does it matter if the enchantment have been imbued or not?
Does an enchanted arrow (from Enchant weapon) count towards the item slot?
Does this mean that in order for the soldier to carry a treasure the soldier must drop his enchanted equipment if he has enchanted equipment?

If somone could verify and/or clarify, I would appreciate it.

1. An embedded enchantment counts, one enchanted during the game doesn't.
2. Not permanent, but during the game they can.
3. See above.
4. Yes.
5. No, as treasure is not an item.

(Waits to be told he's wrong. ;) )

i have been wondering about this one too.

because if the embedded enchantment counts as the one item, its only good in the beginning of a campaign.

later, when there is money to go around, it becomes rather pointless.

it has value latter in the campaign in that you don't have spend money on certain items.

If you can afford better weapons, great, leave them in your vault, but at least if you lose some henchmen you'll have basic magical replacements to give to any new soldiers joining the warband (even a +1F sword is better than nothing if facing something immune to non-magic).

Also, depending on your group, you might be allowed to sell embedded weapons - I don't see a difference between a +1F sword found in a chest (worth 300gp) and a sword with an embedded enchantment (+1F - worth 300gp?).  Of course, that might not have been Joe's intention, but your group might allow it.
