Title: Gaslands: A Game of Post-Apocalyptic Vehicular Mayhem, to be published by Osprey
Post by: crikeymiles on September 24, 2015, 10:06:37 AM
Hello!

I'm tremendously excited to let people that Osprey have this week picked up my post-apocalyptic car combat game, Gaslands, to be released in late 2017 as part of their Osprey Wargames Series!  Read more here (http://gaslands.com/gaslands-to-be-published-by-osprey/).

In Gaslands, you build a post-apocalyptic racing team, made of bikes, cars, trucks, big rigs, buggies and busses.   You equip your vehicles with an array of weapons and then fight for money, gas and reputation across a campaign progress system consisting of alternating races (for money and reputation) and wasteland scraps (for resources and the gas you need for the next race).

Gaslands is unashamedly inspired by Gorkamorka, Bloodbowl, Cars Wars, Battlecars, Thunder Road and is designed for kitbashed matchbox and Hot Wheels cars.

I'm looking for playtesters to make Gasland the most fun that it can be.  If you are interested in getting involved and helping to shape the game, head on over to Gaslands.com (http://gaslands.com), or let me know in this thread!

Thanks!
Mike

Awesome!  It should match the models that you have already.  The only difference is that you're a racing team, so if you wanna look like a boss, you gotta have team colours, or a sweet logo, and numbers on your trucks!

3 to 5 roughly, but the campaign system is basically just in my head at the moment, so playtesters are going to have the opportunity to help guide the answers to these kinds of questions!  8)

Well, I'll need to make a few more vehicles before I'll have enough for playing but would definitely be interested in play testing.

Awesome!  For now, there's nothing stopping you getting started with just one vehicle each if you'd like.  I'd love to know if anything breaks or isn't fun with smaller games, (ditto with mega games), to help me make it the best it can be.  Gotta test 'em all!

Haven't been able to play a test game yet but I really like what I've read. The turn sequence and movement seem easy enough to get to grips with. Thinking I'll use some counters or bases to try out a few games over the weekend.

Quick & fun post-apo sounds great to me. Are there also individual fighters in the game or "just" vehicles?

Thanks!  Just vehicles.  The rules system is very vehicles focussed, but I daresay an enterprising gamer could still incorporate them.

Just a quick update to say that I'm very happy to announce the release today of the new beta version of Gaslands, which contains a ton of playtester feedback, and also an alpha version of the campaign system!

To get involved, you can sign up as a playtester at Gaslands.com/playtesting

Can confirm this looks very interesting now, even more so then before. The skill sound interesting and compelling to play campaign games with them.
I see you took my advice on point values, great!  :D

Aye, I've been posting there for a year now, and for one reason or another it's down ._.

https://twitter.com/gaslands_game?lang=en

Their twitter seems to indicate they were hacked, or something like that. Hopefully they get it back up.

Hi,

Unfortunately our Wordpress install got hacked and turned into a zombie in a spam-ring. It will be down for a week or two whilst I learn about WP security and get a new and hardened version back up and running.

It would be sooner, but I'm hard at work on nearly the final draft for Osprey!

So glad it got nuked by hackers now, and not later in the year, once the game is out.

Cheers!
Mike

Happy to say that hackers have been unseated and the site is back: Gaslands.com (http://Gaslands.com)

We are in final playtesting now, and will be at Beachhead in Bournemouth UK this weekend giving demos, and also at Salute 2017 on April 22!

You can check out our events here: http://gaslands.com/events/

Whilst this is not confirmed, Bloomsburys own site has a draft release date already: http://www.bloomsbury.com/us/gaslands-9781472818553/
