I have never done it before, but for the first time i went "Wet Painting" and i now will stick to wet painting,it gives you all sorts of weird colours and shades.

Once the wet painting was complete, i allowed to dry and highlight with a mild colour khaki, then a touch dry brush of magnolia

The wet paint colours were paint pots samples from any cheap DIY, these colours are dark brown and a orange.

The dry grass is from a hanging basket for plant, just cut pieces out and pull apart, the fibres are perfect, very cheap and lots of it, will last you years and save you a fortune.

I have seen models of ruin buildings and the iron bars that stick out from broken floor levels, people use cocktail sticks, i wanted the bends and to show them that they took some sort of damage, use paper clips was the answer for me.

Well i am working on my third now and its going to be so much better as i found some great tips in creating iron grills for damaged floors.

Really cool. I like the effect you obtain and the total building is really impressive. A table filled with several of these should be awesome.
-
I'm heading more or less in that direction, but enough buildings to fill a 12ft by 6 ft table
-
Holy crap! 12'x6'! :o
I usually play on a 3'x3'...your table is 8 times a big...damn...that must be impressive 8)

We kind of like big wargames in Grimsby, :)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'wet painting'?
Do you use water on the brush (to thin/blend), or are you applying the next color before the previous dries (wet-on-wet/alla prima)?
-
Sorry Argonor. I should of explained it better, wet painting is two or three different colours from a cheap sample pot.
First you dip the brush into the pot and apply it straight onto the building, my first colour was a orange, this was put on in random spots.
Second stage, while the orange pain was still wet i used a dark brown pot and no water added i just began painting the colour on, it mixed itself up on the building, so many different shades are created, where i wanted it dark i just applied more brown, never done it before, but once dry then add the highlights, it just transforms itself.

I really like these buildings. Thank you for sharing. I am going to steal a lot of ideas for my own urban ruins.

OK, no worries, just curious! :)
I expect to be painting some buildings over the winter (not concrete, but will still need some shading/weathering), so I gather as much inspiration as possible!

Well Argonor, good luck with it.
