Title: AEF in Siberia Uniform question
Post by: marianas_gamer on 24 October 2015, 06:45:30 AM
I took advantage of the recent Recreational Conflict sale and now have a number of the American Expeditionary Force to Siberia. They are all in overcoats and most with fur hats, apparently of British issue.  Does anyone know the color of the fur hats?  Some pictures make them look white and others clearly show them to be a darker color.  Also, I can not see any indication of rank or unit identification on the picture of troops in cold weather gear. Does anyone know if there were rank markings, etc? The pictures that I have found on the internet have been of limited help. Perusing cuprum's forum, I only came up with a colored plate of cavalry that do not match my minis.  Pygmy wars didn't have any illustrations that I could find either. I intend to use Grimm's recommendations for uniform colors as a fall back. I would appreciate it if anyone who painted these fellow before can point me in the right direction or can post some pics. Many thanks!

I'm assuming that it's the Tiger Miniatures range that you're talking about. Have you looked at their page? They have painted examples on there:

I have a bunch painted up also ,tiger and brigade, great figures. Don't forget to paint up the actor Raymond massey,he was a RCMP .,w/ the Canadians in Vladivostok. You'll need to paint up a Canadian 18pdr and crew ,they backed up the Americans quite a bit, life savers. There is also the Osprey w/ White Russians civil war has a plate w/ americans in it.

Are those "Cossacks" wearing kaftans? In Siberia??? The hats bother me too -- they should look like they have small sheep on their heads.

It's just a fantasy artist, know little about with a theme.
On one of the planes depicted angle "St. George" colors (orange, black) such emblem could be the plane "Komuch People's Army." But on their planes was not emblem "skull and bones" - this is typical for squadron emblem Russian ace Kazakov during the First World War.
