Well anyone doing this? I was thinking add a gun and a power pack and some wild sci fi camo. ?
-
:o burn the heretic
-
lol :o
Well what a great idea. This I want to see :)
-
So basically the Dreamforge troopers?
-
^This was my first thought...the Dreamforge fellas.
-
They'd look like medieval foot knights with sci-fi guns and power packs. Are you into that concept or do you just have a box of Perry foot knights you don't know what to do with?
-
Just thinking is all. I do like to convert so? Heretic? why yes :) Dreamforge? Ill have to look into them, thanks
-
Sounds like a cool idea actually!
Dreamforge Troopers are more WWII-Germanified Star Wars Stormtroopers if you ask me.
Your idea would certainly have a unique look and feel, even though the idea has been done before (think Ion Age Knights, Rogue Trader Space Marines etc).
Still; when done right, I have no doubt it would work like a charm. Run with it, I'd say! 8)

IF you end up interested in Dreamforge Eisenkern, check out my sales thread ;)
And if you start sci-fing up the Perrys, do post pics :D
-
Aren't the Perry Knights a little more realistically proportioned than normal sci-fi?
If so, you would need to be a bit clever about what kit you want to add.
I have recently ordered a few bits and bobs from Mad Robot miniatures (in the USA) and they fit nicely with my Squats so should, in theory, work well with more 'slight' miniatures. They have a nice range of weapons and packs... so it would be worth a look:

Depending on what base miniatures you want to use, this could be a very interesting little project :)

Knights in Space?
Check these ;)

Thanks all

I want 15mm Eisenkern.

I wonder why converting the perry foot, when there is so much brilliant stuff without converting avaible (for example the pig iron stuff)?

Because some of us think converting is more fun than painting or playing even. :D
On the issue of proportion/scale, I think if you're looking at modern weapons, the Wargames Factory Survivor kit weapons would scale well. They are also nicely proportioned in a realistic style.
-
I think they could look good (a bit RT even), but I'd expect to see a bit more than a suit of armour and a modern gun; I think they'd need some cables, maybe lenses in the helmets, and possibly a few other small details to "sci-fi" the armour a bit.
As for guns... Hmm. Heresy Miniatures do some that might work in size? Failing that, I think Wargames Factory do some sci-fi kits you could rob guns from?

ok, I seem to understand.
For Weapons: There is a lot of GW-Bits on ebay. I think all the GW-Customers can give a lot of stuff. The Assault Group also sells seperate weapons. And the plastic-packs of Warlords german infantry had a lot of single weapons.
-
The EM4 Bunker Busters are more or less suits of armour with a few gribblies added, as are the ION age troopers so it can work with a little effort.
Hasslefree Miniatures has a wide range of weaponry to suit the smaller miniature.
I'd also suggest that if someone has a box of Perry's foot knights and needs some sci-fi troopers, he may want to convert them rather than spend extra cash on ready made troopers :)
A common statement in my Squat converting thread is 'why not buy scrunts/macrocosm/Grymn/OOP metal Squats?' It is a valid question but when you have almost 200 plastic Squats, you have to do something with them or they will just sit there so it makes perfect sense to convert them :)
-
Warlord games have just released plastic fallshirmjager.... Imperial guard ?
The eisenkorn stuff I've always liked too
-
I thought about doing sci fi Knights when gw bought out their skittarii ,with brettonian men at arms with las rifles or las muskets.and hand weapons.
-
Makes me think more of the Prydian knights from Alternative Armies:

Love the look of them and always wanted those, so might just make some.
-
One of the local lads has been using leftover Skitarii heads, backpacks and weapon arms with the Frostgrave plastics to make Necromunda-style gangers. So some GW bits do fit with more realistic 28s.
The Skitarii Vanguard helmets have something of the sallet look about them anyway.
I'll see if I can prod him to post some pics, but I reckon you'll do a good job on the Perry plastics.
Also... ages ago I created a 40k militia and some cultists from a mix of Cadians, WFB Militia and Empire Flagellants plus various other bits. So I reckon the concept is a sound one

Ah, you mean this chap:

Very basic conversion. Needs some more sci fi effects about his torso but the idea was to use him as some Hive City type guy.

That's the chap, but I wasn't going to hassle you about it. Don't knock yourself, it's great!
Also just built some Skaven stormvermin in spaaaace using skitarii leftovers.
