I like tightly themed warbands
I painted up the Frostgrave Sigilist and Apprentice ...
... and some soldiers to go with them.
An apothecary seemed really appropriate somehow ... and I love the Mother superior as a Templar.

Ice queens every single one of them always love seeing the sisters.
-
Nice idea, and well executed !
-
Brilliant!
Excellent choice of colors.
Which manufacturer makes that apothecary model?
-
Really nice work.
-
I LOVE THIS! :-*
What an awesome use for an old Sisters of Sigmar Mordheim warband! lol
I'm gonna repurpose mine as well. AWESOME idea! :D

Love how those look. I really want to do this with my sisters too. Just haven't really figured out how to expand the group to include more soldier types.
-
This looks really great!

Thanks very much fellas.
Much appreciated.
The Apothecary Model is from Reaper ... that one is BONES so cheap as chips.

Yes .... it's a problem. The soldiers so far are just Infantry women or Women-at-arms. I have a couple more with planned weapon swaps to be archers and crossbows ... so thats the basic covered. There is another Sisters superior who has more armour and looks more Knight than templar ... or Bertha whatshername ... is wearing plate armour so thats the Knight covered. Then there is an Auger model that would make a Barbarian. So I am stuck for thieves, and thugs more than anything for the starting warband ... Then Tracker, Treasure hunter Ranger and marksman for specialists.
Now, I don't mind my speialists being restricted a bit ... that goes with the territory with themed warbands .... but I do need to come up with something for thieves and thugs ... I was thinking maybe some monks? But then the brown robes would spoil the painting scheme if not the theme. Might Just have to give them a warhound so they can afford to start without thieves and thugs and still have an apprentice.

Great themed warband, like it a lot.
Could I suggest Reapers Michelle Dancingblades (02423) for treasure hunter and Horakinis (61025) for thief or thug?
-
Very nice warband!!
-
Sisters are doing it for themselves!
Great work - love the cream/white paintwork.
-
Yes .... it's a problem...
I've been considering buying a box of Mantic Basilean sisters for conversion fodder. They're just about the closest match I've seen but are pretty limited for poses and weapons. Plan would be to use left over arms from all my other plastic boxes.

I like the idea of using lay brothers as thieves and thugs. Since they cannot be ordained they are relegated to the menial roles of armsmen (thugs) and foragers (thieves). Keep your color scheme, but replace the white robes with grey or light grey robes.
A simple archer conversion is to replace a hand weapon with a sling. You can sculpt one using a pin vice, wire and greenstuff or you can simply use greenstuff to sculpt a sling hanging from a Sister's belt. Alternatively you can do a hand swap with a singer model. There are several slinger hands on Gripping Beast's Dark Age Warriors sprue. The sling hand will be a bit small for a GW model, but you can use greenstuff to make the hand larger. If you can't get your hands on the sling bits I can mail you some. I have plenty of extras.

Satchels for your slinger's stones would be a nice addition. If you don't have proper satchel bits you can sculpt satchels. It's fairly simple. I added GS satchel with shoulder straps to all of my SAGA Irish levy. Below are some WIP pics.

Pathfinder Miniatures' Nexian Bounty Hunter can serve as either a crossbowman or marksman.

A treasure hunter conversion is easy. Start with a Sister model that isn't armed with a 2-handed weapon and add a backpack and bunch of stuff like satchels, pouches and coiled rope.
Add a staff to a slinger Sister and you got yourself a Huntsman.
An easy barbarian conversion is to start with a 40K Sister Repentia and replace the eviscerator blade and hilt with an enormous sword blade. And sure, they'll get awfully cold running around in their leather girdle and undies, but that's just another part of their penitence.

You should find a place for these boys, nobody would suspect it.

They would be great to just randomly rock up... lol

Thanks for the great feedback and all the great ideas for additions to the warband.
@Koyote ... special thanks for that super supportive post. Lots for great Ideas and I love that pathfinder nun as a marksman.
@Red Graf ... those three would make a great start to an opposing warband Or I could write special rules for them and have them roaming around the board dragging people of for 'questioning'.

Since the various soldier types are mostly defined by their equipment, I would think that the models wielding two hammers could pass as Treasure Hunters. The same models could even be converted into Thugs with a simple hand/weapon swap; the extra hammer could be replaced with a torch, for example. Thieves could be made in the same manner.
Alternatively:
1. Flagellants with maces and torches could serve as Thugs, and their robes could be painted in the same color scheme (in fact, I think that the first Age of Sigmar book showed Empire Flagellants with a cream and blue color scheme).
2. Mordheim Witch Hunters or Zealots could serve as Thugs.
3. Perhaps Reaper Bones angry villagers could serve as Thugs.
-
Really nice! I love recognising models too *waves at Olivia*
-
Not sure if this fits either, but new from Hasslefree. She'd make a great paladin.

Well i do have a couple more left over so I can try some of those conversions.
But I do like the idea of some flaggelent types with them .... if I can make the colour scheme work.
@Annie ....My Olivia is in Bones material ... do you have her in metal?
@Red Graf .... love that mini!!! .... so many toys ... so little time.

I have to have that Hasslefree Paladin - simply gorgeous.

No kidding, I want that Hasselfree fig, and the Nexian as well. I've been thinking about building a warband with my Sigilist and apprentice, and thought about using those warrior nuns from Reaper's Crusader Warlord line, since all of them have that wimple head covering to tie the force in, though I do like your Sisters of Sigmar.
