Title: Help Requested - HMS Javelin and HMS Kashmir
Post by: von Lucky on December 05, 2015, 12:06:48 PM
Can someone tell me if (and if so, why) the HMS Javelin and HMS Kashmir swapped names:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J-,_K-_and_N-class_destroyer

It's not making sense and my Google-fu is failing.

Thanks for that. I think it's the why that's bugging me.

It was explained like this:

HMS Javelin was launched as a 'K class' destroyer and HMS Kashmir was launched as a 'J class' destroyer.
The 2 ships changed their respective names, so Javelin became Kashmir and Kasmir became Javelin to be in line with class names (K class having names starting with a K, J class having names staring with a J).
