Lotta love for Halflings going around at the moment.

It's the season to be merry and eat until you burst... A perfect time for Halflings.  ;)

Best of luck, Schrumpfkopf!
Looks like you'll be funded within the hour?
Edit: Nevermind, you're already there. Well done!

Must be a good feeling to have doubled your target so fast (counter's at 1718 as I type).
I just wish I had the cash on hand to go for the Collectors pledge, plus any stretch goals that get reached. But december being a spendy month, I've had to be a bit more modest.
The models will be part of the regular Westfalia Range after the Kickstarter, right?

Yeah I guesss December might not've ben the wisest choice. But again - it leaves me with enough time to handle everything.
Some models will be KS exclusice I'm afraid. THe rest will go into the shop eventually.

Great, that means you'll likely be getting another order from me, a few months down the line.  :D
I'm guessing/hoping anything not marked KS exclusive will go into the shop? What about the stretch goals, will they be KS exclusives or will they be used to expand the range?

Eventually all will go into the shop. Some of the KS exclusives will be released with modifications. Some Stretch goals were really aimed at the Halfmen and some are fun stuff that I wanted for my own collection and that could be used as mercenaries.

For the Halfmen unit deals, will there be an equivalent deal for the now-unlocked halfmen-at-arms?

Sorry about the EB - I really didn't think that would happen this fast!

The foot knights come with a lot more options than the normal rankers. That and I only have 2 atm. I intended them to work as alternative unit champions mosty, but I could see myself organising a small unit of foot knights. Hmmm Maybe i have 2 more bodies made, then I guess it would work.

No worries on the EB, such things happen!  With the foot knights, you have alternate arms already, so a smaller unit size of 6 or something should not have too much repetition.  If they are being used for Dragon Rampant, the foot knights are usually smaller sized units anyway.

Plus, you could add the add-on as-is, and if you opt to include alternate sculpts/variants, I doubt anyone would complain with you swapping out the repeated models for different poses.  Heck, you could even make that a little stretch goal if you run out of them  ;)

Ok - I need to think on how to handle that. The sculptor time is tied into lots of goat-ish things and I don't want to compromise March as the delivery date...
I am still surprised by the number of people joining the campaign and by the amount of funds.

Great start with the KS  8) Hopefully there will be still many more stretch goals reached  :D

I'm in for a small army currently and aiming to get some of the stretch goals as extra but have I missed something or how does one add extras with the pledge manager? Or do I just now add extra dosh to my pledge and when the KS closes I then inform you what I want as extras?

You shouldn't be - the models are beautiful and anything with an Oldhammer flavour is going to drag money out of wallets.

Halflings aren't my personal thing or I'd be all over it. I can't wait to see what's lined up for future releases (maybe Beastmen if I read your hint right).

I know Oldhammer has no real definition, but to me it's the 'Realm of Chaos / Necromunda /<=4th Edition' thing mostly.
That and I am a bit weary of people using Oldhammer as some sort of 'Fair Trade' label to be honest.

Beastmen huh? I like the sound of that. :--)

Well, you could consider making an announcement that certain new stretch goals cannot be completed in time for the delivery of March, so if anyone wants them in their order they would have to wait an extra couple months.  Better to do that than rush and release an inferior product. I think backers would be ok with that. Or you could just reach a point and say 'no more stretch goals' then any other profit afterwards you could invest on your own pace.

As for the success, you have done a great job with promoting the range, sending out samples, and getting the community involved with your progress.  It helps that you have a cracking sculptor working for you as well!  :D

Yes, I was thinking about that, but I rather get the campaign finished the way it was intended to. That, and I am not interested in doing miniatures for they money alone. I am quite proud of the quality that we're doing. I want to make toys for the inner child. :--)

As good as it would be to have figures like that as part of this particular range, I think the strength of the range is the fact that it fills in a lot of things that have not been available elsewhere.

Hopefully they do come along at some point, but I think archers can be filled in with other figures in the meantime, like Mirliton/Grenadier, Black Tree, Goblin Factory, Black Hat, etc. Won't be a perfect match, but will get us by until then.  ;)

Congrats.

I really want to deliver on time so I left a couple of things out.

There will be a 2nd wave however with les uniformity but adventurers, civilians and light cavalry. I am pretty sure that we'll see the peasant archers at this point.

Well, now I went and got the mercenary human and an ogre, the peg-legged fellow with the cannon. Still seriously tempted to go for some more ogres.

I hope you are happy Schrumpfkopf, feeding my addiction to good miniatures and well-run Kickstarters like that  ;)

I am happy like a fish in the water :----)
Also - I've mentioned it but it might've gotten lost. The peg leg ogre will come with 2 feet and a hat. An alternative version will come with a rather fancy peg leg tho. I hope that's alright for you.

I really think that the last SG was maxing it out. That said do I always have something nifty left. Just in case things keep growing. ;--)

I must have missed that, thanks for telling me! That's a common problem with kickstarters, information tends to 'drown' in the stream of comments, updates etc etc.

I hope this isn't an inappropriate thread to post this, but I did a test paint on the Halfling sample Schrumpfkopf sent me earlier.

A joy to paint! I do love it when sculptors design their figures so as to actually be fun and not frustrating to paint.

Great job!  I agree that there is a fine balance between enough and too much detail on a figure, especially a rank and file.  These ones tread it nicely!
Title: Re: [kickstarter] Westfalia's Halfmen
Post by: Rhoderic on December 20, 2015, 10:40:06 PM
One brief note: I used one of those 20mm diameter ("extra small") round slottabases for my halfling. The figure may look unnaturally large if one mistakes the base for a standard 25mm diameter one. In truth the figure is perfectly scaled as a "halfman" for 28-30mm tall humans.

(Also, the reason the metallics look a bit lackluster is that I was experimenting with a new way of painting them, which didn't really pan out. But enough hijacking from me.)

Black and yellow is one of my possible choices as well... but problem is that dunno how to go about painting that black so it won't look too dull... oh well, I still have until March to practise :D Or change my colours :D

She'll make a KS comback between March and April in a micro KS. An edited version will likely make it into the shop.

I made a pledge a few days back (finally was paid in time!!) I very much look forward to the next KS and will definitely be picking up more should they make general release!

These have to be the best 28mm fantasy figures I have ever seen! I really do hope you go on to create your own interpretations of other Fantasy races!

Almost 35K. Congrats! Pugnacious halflings are about to swarm all over the world!

Ultimately, though, I think ogres, goblins and humans together outnumber halflings in my pledge :)
