So I picked up Aurelian because I've enjoyed Sam's other games. I've read it and it looks great. Now the task begins to find appropriate minis. I've not gamed ancients for some time and need your collective expertise. I've decided on 15mm and will begin with Rome and the Germans. I'm aware of the kickstarter from West Wind but would prefer to get started now. I know Essex has a few middle Imperial Romans but what else is out there?

Khurasan Romans look really nice (except for the pila), although I have not seen them in person.

Khurasan also sells Germans.

The 2nd century Xyston Parthian cataphracts can be used as Sassanids. They look kind of funky on the website, but better in real life.

Legio Heroica has a nice Sassanid range.

I've been bitten by the same bug and have been pondering...
AB Figure - lovely looking 18mm Sassanids

Black Hat - true 15mm Goths and Late Romans

I forgot about AB. I have a few dozen of the shooting Clibanarius, which are the mainstay of my 18mm Sassanids. The charging Clibanarius could easily have been my favorite figures, but I could never make them work. They are one piece castings with the lance cast on. The metal is very soft making the lance very delicate. Normally, I would replace the lance with a wire spear but I found this very difficult to do (the hand is very small). The lance is also cast on the cataphract, but at least the horse is separate from the rrider.

Many thanks on the suggestions. Not to research size comparisons.
