Title: Selling decision processing
Post by: Conquistador on 16 December 2015, 02:59:29 PM
This was asked on another forum but thought this audience might have different viewpoints to contribute:

begin edited for auto correct errors quote:

Okay, I would like your thoughts on what to winnow.

Both sets are things I could take into retirement gladly even though they are larger than 15mm.

A). I have Conquest Miniatures (?) Comanches x 21 mounted and 20 matching on foot.

B) I have some OOP Stan Johansen castings of the FGU aliens from Space Marines:

Blarads x 18

Whistlers x 10

Mekpurrs x 8 plus 5 of the robots that serve as grunts (I use older figures for Mekpurr Androids.)

Rauwoofs x 34

Irsol x 1

Assorted human scum X 2 (not their real miniature designation)

edit: 40+ figures in the first group,in the last group, 60+ figures

Which would you sell and which would you keep?

End edited for auto correct errors Quote

Edit:  Future living/storage space requires abandoning a fairly large percentage of the larger (25+mm) miniatures.  Keeping everything (or even most) is not an option.

Edit:  "Regrets" are not a factor that I will entertain since I am out of 19th Century Old West gaming intentionally and the Space Marine Aliens are very sadly OOP.

Are you planning on gaming with them? If not (or at least, if you only plan on gaming with a few figures), I would maybe sell some of each.

That is a new thought but I think I need to not waffle on selling at least one of the  two lots.   :)

The Comanches?  No, not at all.

The Aliens?  Well the Space Marines rules work best with very small groups (but which ones is an issue) but I am still looking to use 15mm aliens to replace the larger figures.

Ah, in that case I'd keep the aliens. :)

I feel they are probably more forgiving scale-wise if you ever want to mix them up with other models for some games in the future then - being over-sized is not so much of an issue if they're alien is it?.

Plus, if you're not playing games with them, and you have severe space restrictions, the Comanches seem like the more obvious ballast. (...Well, maybe keep two or three of your best-painted/favorite ones for a display shelf or as "computer companions" on your desk?  ;))

Sell them both. You have already made your mind up that they can go as part of the process of starting this thread.
Use the money to buy 15mm pre-painted or get a commission painter to paint some of the figures you are keeping.

I'd agree with selling them both.  Clean slate.

Robh and Elbows, I have come to think that is the best idea.

Why is it so hard for us to part with our unpainted unused toys sometimes? No, that is for another thread...

If you're a member of a club with secure storage, that could solve your problem without having to sell?

Darrell.

If you decide to sell the Commanches ... I may be interested in them in the New Year.
