So I'm planning on making a pretty large Crusade army for Hail Caesar. I decided to make some Hospitallers first.
This is actually the second unit of models I've ever painted, the first of which being a 40k space marine squad. I'm pretty proud of the end result on these guys and once my Curtey's mounted knights come in I'm probably going to make two units of Hospitallers since they're my favorite military order. Era on these guys would be about 1248+ since they're wearing black surcoats. The cross is a cross formee branchee since the Maltese Cross didn't exist until the 16th century.
Models are Gripping Beast Later Crusaders advancing and attacking.

Rest of the album can be found here since I don't want to clog the page up too much.

They look great. Especially seeing they're your second unit ever!
I like your basing as well.
-
Thanks, the basing is super simple. It's just sand with GW Tallarn Sand painted over it and then Ushabti Bone drybrushed over it. Then glue on bushes/grass as needed. I chose it since the color is sort of in between a dirt/sand color and could be used on a variety of tables.

Excellent work!
I'm looking forward to your tenth unit! ;)

I like them. A lot.

Nice work on the caparison. The fleurs-de-lys are pretty good, and the highlighting/excellent is excellent.
-
Looks like quite the project there, congrats!
-
Fantastic brushwork! Even more so since you are still new to painting miniatures :D
Keep up the great work and consider me subscribed :)
