Title: Random Monsters
Post by: Sunjester on December 31, 2015, 11:05:08 AM
In our first game we did have two wandering monsters turn up, but they were so far away from the action that the never really took part in the game.

We were thinking that, as you test for monsters when someone picks up a treasure, the beastie has been disturbed/woken up/angered by that action. Roll a random direction from the treasure and the monster emerges from the first piece of cover where it has been hiding/sleeping. With the proviso that it must be at least 6" from any character, except for the idiot who has disturbed it!

How do you more experienced guys think that would work?

I like that idea, I've had the same thing happen with random monsters.
I think I'll try that the next game I play.
Thanks for the idea :)

If monsters just had the extra instruction that if there were no models in 10" and LOS they dbl move toward the nearest soldier or spellcaster in 24" and LOS. This would fix most issues with monsters just wandering in circles.

I've been entering the random encounters a few inches away from the treasure, and will quickly enter combat when they hear the warband rustling through the treasure...
