Title: Sun In The Low Winter Sky (My Frostgrave)
Post by: slovak on 03 January 2016, 09:10:46 PM
My Dear Frostgrave Fellows!

I have been following this forum for a couple months in silent admiration, it's nice to see people's ideas about this amazing game. And while I modeled up some terrain and started a gang to play four or five games (so far!) I hadn't taken the plunge to publishing anything here myself.

But now we are in the midst of a cold winter snap in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where I live and the frosty mornings mean that there isn't much work in the orchards and lots of time to think about Feldstad. I snapped a few pictures of my Wizard and his crew, and with time I will post some pictures of the terrain that I've put together too.

I don't really consider any of these models done yet, there are so many details and layers that could be added, I have just got them up to a playable level and may add more pictures over time as the models progress. You comments and critique are most welcome, it's a work in progress so I'll take all the help I can get. Thanks in advance for checking out my work!

First up- this is my Enchanter, whose name is Tedious.

He's got a hammer and a level mounted on his iron staff. He is a working craftsman, and these are the tools of his trade.

He is of the people of the Alala Swarth, hearty northern folk known for producing exceptional smiths and anvil-workers.

Nice figure...on real snow...

You know you can post multiple pictures in one post rather than set up three posts...

Okay, thanks that will tidy the post up considerably.

Next up is the Apprentice, Pigweed.

A very nice start.  I love the idea of putting the tracker on skis.  I may steal that!  lol

Thank you for all of the encouragement. I grew up using skis for mobility in winter, it seemed like a natural to me.

Next up, and in no particular order: the Apothocary, Bronner. He actually has not been hired yet, in that he has yet to see a game, but he's under contract.
We met him in a tavern in the ramble of slums and tents on the approached to Felstad and arrangements are being drawn up. Negotiations are tricky for the more skilled hirelings.

Gawd, these are lovely. I was impressed by your terrain for a second there too, until I realised it wasn't ;)

Thanks, all -! As I mentioned earlier in the thread, these are mostly paint-in-progress so expect to see some updates over time, that will help keep me on task. Some of you out there will understand I think when I say that 85% of my projects are (perpetually) 85% completed, sometimes it takes a deadline for me to get something over the line.

Well the skis seem to be a big hit. I've done several other ski-equipped figures, also a thug on snowshoes. I'll find time to post everything I hope.

@Harry- I made the skis by cutting a rectangle of plastic from my bitz box (a hatch cover I think of from a 1/35th scale tank kit -?) into strips and then carefully heating and bending the strips over a cigarette lighter, and then trimming the tip of the ski into shape. No lamination skills necessary!
@von Lucky- Thanks, and I will post some pictures of my terrain in time and hopefully you'll like those, but there's no substitution for the real thing. We've had heavy frost here in the mornings and most of these were taken on the hood of my truck.

So another skiing figure, this time a Ranger. He doesn't have a name yet because he hasn't made it into the warband. He's loitering somewhere near a small fire in a clearing, checking his rabbit snares in the morning and skiing into town at night to trade the pelts for mead and look for work.
