Hi everyone these are my Plans for 2016 (http://www.10mm-wargaming.com/2016/01/happy-new-year-2016.html), what are yours aims/plans for the coming year.
Take care

Complete some more warbands for Dragon Rampant - specifically Empire (about 30 figures), and Goblins (about 12 figures). Also want to complete some support for my Space Orks. If I get through that lot then I will start on an Imperial Guard platoon plus vehicles. For scenery I want to complete a couple more 4Ground hovels, paint up a recent ebay win (GW tower), and paint up my Mantic Battlezones buildings.
-
Sounds like a good plan
Take care

I wont get ALL of this done in 2016 but some will get done.
Finish Early Victorian Fiction armies.Still have about 120 Brits and 100 French to do.
Paint up Wargods of Olympus Athenians and Corinthians when they finally arrive.
Paint warbands for Mordheim.High,Wood and Dark Elves,Chaos Dwarves, a 3rd Orc warband, and some demons and monsters for NPC.
Paint all the figures I have for 40k Imperial Guard left.Mostly Necromunda figs, old old Rogue Trader Guardsmen,Rough riders,Ogryns and ratlings.
Paint a huge Tau army I still have in boxes
Paint a huge Eldar army still in boxes
Paint a second huge Space Marine army in boxes
Paint 400 Front Rank Russian Napoleonics
Paint 140 Front Rank Bavarian Naps
Paint 140 Wurtemburg Front Ranks Naps
Paint 100 British Front Rank Napoleonics
Paint about 500 old metal GW Empire figs to go with the thousand I have
That's a lot of painting but even though I paint fast it still wont all get done.
The only other thing would be find a premade or make myself a 28mm river system I actually like.

My plan is to paint at least 50% of my stockpile of unpainted miniatures.

Ha, found Your url while quoting. Couldn't see it in the post, very mysterious!
I want to do this:
- paint 6 embassadors for some friend's armies
- finish a playable table for Ronin
- a more uniform like buntai of about 10-15 ashigaru/samurai for Ronin as well
- paint at least 2 units with 20 WHFB-dwarfs each for a baint-battle
- paint 3 complete gangs for frostgrave
- monsters, markers and stuff alike
- finally finish my dwarfen gun-steamer-monitor-ship
- other hobby-things I don't dare to challenge the gods with, yet
o_o
-
Still not buying miniatures, working my way through the lead/plastic mountain.
Painting 28mm Vikings & Saxons at the mo - The Last Kingdom inspired me to get them done.
Then painting my 15mm Anglo-Zulu War mini's for Colonial HOTT.
Then two boxes of odds & sods, Salute mini's etc, that aren't for projects, just an opportunity to focus on painting to a higher quality.
After that, I've a Punic Wars project for Basic Impetus or Warmaster using Hat 1/72 plastics.
If there's any of 2016 left I'll start on repainting my Horrorclix & Heroclix Batman figures.

Sounds like a lot of us are going to be extremely busy this year. it will be interesting to return to this thread later on in the year and see how many of us have actually achieved our goals.
Take care

plans for 2016 are
continue collecting Gringo40s Garibaldi range
collect more fantasy stuff for Dragon Rampant (LOTR and HOBBIT)
get more Infinity minis
learn how to play Lord of the Rings Card Game and maybe get the star wars one
get some more Boshin war bits
Thats it for the moment but I am sure I will feel the pull to purchase more Samurai stuff from Steel Fist

Thought so, as well. In another forum I made some sort of bet. If I will not finishe these, I will get the title unworty for 2017.
Will see, if that sort of pressure is enough. ^^

One thing at a time. Or, thanks to hobby butterfly, a handful of half-baked things at a time.
I'm interested in seeing 10mm Stalingrad, though.
-
I have set myself a target of:
Adding at least 100 items a month to my finished pile, 1200 in total for 2016. I have the chart to complete next to my painting desk...... 8)
Avoid buying anything new. :?
-
Specific:
Build a spray booth for better indoor airbrushing. This one has already started, but it will take a few weeks as I have to buy materials in bursts as I find the money. It's my #1 priority though, as I have projects that need it, and it's kinda been a loooong time coming anyway. Fortunately the the bit that accounts for 2/3 of the total expense all by itself (the fan/blower unit) has already been sorted, so it's all downhill from here financially.
Convert my tankless compressor to a tanked compressor. Mostly involves bypassing the internal auto switch in favor of an external aftermarket one. I have the replacement switch and a tank, so it's mostly a matter of fittings and wiring. Secondary priority after the booth, but much cheaper and simpler, so probably will get done first.
Improve workspace lighting. Another one that really needs doing and has needed doing for a long time. Expensive though, so will have to wait until the booth is done before I can dive into that.
General:
Get my Strange Aeons teams painted. Design and build some terrain for them. Got some specific mental images/ideas for the terrain that I'm pretty excited about, but I need to figure out the larger "map" and how those things will fit into it.
Try to find a gaming group in my area. I go looking every year or so, but there just doesn't seem to really be anything here other than a couple GW-themed groups.
Vauge:
Various terrain ideas. Got a bunch of random cool mental images for stuff, just don't have a context/use for them to drive actual production.
Get some of the other figures from my (quite modest compared to others' here, apparently) lead bin done.
-
Oh Lord, where do I start?
Okay. Well first off must be LPL10 - so thats a minimum of 55 figures to paint. Try to paint figures that will be useful as well as good to paint. Try to finish in top half of LPL.
Finish off my 28mm WWII British (20-30 figures I think).
Paint those really lovely Discworld busts by Micro Art Studios that have been sitting on a shelf since Salute last year.
Oh, make sure that I've got the weekend off for Salute.
Build, detail and paint a representation of Granny Weatherwax's Cottage.
Find the Shepherd's Hut scene that I painted for last year's LPL (it has gone missing in the house move).
Paint a shedload of Zombies and survivors (Zombicide Kickstarters 1-3).
Build scenery for WWII games, more Old West scenery and more Pirate scenery.
Finish my Freebooter's Fate Island gaming boards (3 4'x2' boards to finish).
Fit out my gaming room with sufficient shelves, etc to store my figures and scenery tidily.
Paint the rest of my Dystopian Legions Britannians and buy and paint enough Antarcticans to make a full Platoon.
Dig out some of the figures in my "bought to paint but probably not game with" box and try to do them justice with paint.
And then there's .... oh, and I've got ... I mustn't forget ...
Now, what am I going to paint for LPL round 1?
-
I can already tell there'll be too little 2016 for all of my ambitions, but I'll certainly give it a go... ::)
In (dis)order of priority:
- Finally finish my game room (including new desk) and move all my stuff in there
- start building the new gaming table. (a very ambitious plan, that involves lots of moving parts and way too much hardwood...)
- Paint and finish many projects, including, but not limited to these works in progress:
* My DIY chapter of Space Marines (yup) that has been in a WIP state since 2005
* Infinity Pan Oceania force
* X-Wing DIY faction and repainting all remaining ships
* Dropzone Commander Scourge and Resistance armies
* My Pulp RPG project (got to get that nazi helicopter finished!)
* Gorkamorka warband
* All Frostgrave monsters and at least one warband
* Myth monsters and heroes
* At least one Mercs Recon squad and some OpFor
* The minis of my UFO project (underground- and moon base are aspired to, but not yet planned)
* 2 lances of Battletech mechs in 1/100
* Frostgrave terrain (snowy ruins)
* Scifi terrain (grimdark)
* Fantasy town
* Dropzone Commander terrain (cityscape)
* Scifi terrain (utopian)
- Attempt to avoid buying into more projects till I have at least finished one or two running ones
There are quite a few other stalled projects, but the ones listed are the ones highest on the list. I am under no illusion that I will be able to finish even half of the projects listed here, but one can hope, right... ;)
-
Without thinking too much...
Finish and play my 54mm beach game.
Stop adding to my Chinese Warlord army.
Expand my other Back of Beyond armies.
Build a new (bigger!)table.
More games.
Scenery, scenery, scenery.
Get an airbrush.
-
All frostgrave minis painted.
Finish rules for my pocket wargame ideas.
Buy and paint one of the new 40k start collecting kits (i'm looking at you skiitari, you beautiful mechanical bastards.)
Play at least one game a month!
sculpt more than i buy.
-
Paint as much as I buy (impossible).
Speed up my painting (not likely).
Finish cataloging what I have got (likely).
Find a way of selling all (lots of) my GW stuff. (ideas?)
Decide whether or not to go to Salute 2016 for the first time (still pondering).
Give up alcohol (less likely than any of the above. . . . .) ;)
-
My plan is to work through my current backlog. My un-built and unpainted pile is embarrassingly small compared to many fine folks on here. I would say I have about 300 or so models to paint in 28mm Napoleonics and 15mm Flames of War. My aim is to knock out 50 - 100 each month that way I am caught up relatively quick and can get on to buying some models for Lion Rampant! :D
-
More desk time. Less time eating Pringles and chocolate and vegging on the couch watching Netflix.
Having said that, I just spent the afternoon vegging on the couch ... watching Netflix ... and yes, eating Pringles and chocolate.
But I also had an apple, so you know ... baby steps.
-
Personally.....
Hastings for Salute.
Ravenna for the next year at Salute or Partizan- or both.
Smaller projects; Indian Mutiny, NWF and Haggis (Lion) Rampant.
To think further than that is madness at present. :)
Darrell.
-
Finish the three VBCW factions that I undercoated this time last year ::) ...and then start two new ones (50 figs in all)
Paint TYW Polish cavalry
Buy as much Malifaux as funds will allow without creating plastic mountain to replace the tip of the lead one...AND paint them
But mainly for 2016....scenery scenery scenery
-
On New Years Eve I played my first games of Malifaux from the starter set, which will be finished this weekend, I loved this game and plan to promote the game this year at my newly opened games shop (at last), plus I have a few other projects that are ongoing so plans are:
Malifaux complete one gang per month (about 10 figures each) and build scenery, soulstone mine and a few buildings inc. a theatre to house my potato cup organ :o in April I plan to run some introductory participation games in my local store for a week and in June or July I would like to set up a six week campaign using their new campaign rules.
SLA Industries continue to paint the figures as released (3-6 figures a month), playtest Skirmish rules
Nordic Fantasy Skirmish continue to paint figures, mostly Red Box Games and a few other select miniatures, and finish writing the rules.
WWII Bolt Action Paint some Germans to oppose the Commandos I have already painted, maybe start a Vichy French force for North Africa.
Achtung Cthulhu an occasional figure to add to the above.
Lucidea Paint models as released?
To assist in this I hope to enter this year's LPL, think I can fulfil the special rounds with current projects.
If I fulfil 2/3rd of this I will e very happy
-
I'm going to set a goal of painting more than I buy. Let's say for every mini I buy I need to paint two other minis. I probably will fall off the wagon by Tuesday but here's hoping.
-
To actually paint something again! Mind you, that was my plan for 2015 too, and that didn't work out.
-
Easy.
More gaming ( keep on the frequency of the last few months will do just fine ).
More painting ( less is quite impossible ).
Keep on buying ( don't need to improve on that level lol ).
Reconquering the Gaming Room and getting the collection and means of display sorted out.
-
Well,
Last year saw the first year where I bought into a good few periods and grew the lead pile for many a moon, must say though managed to knock out quite a bit of painting
2016 plans
Part 1 finishing projects
A few renaissance dwarf units and artillery, around 40 figure
Around 40 renaisance goblins plus a dozen ridend chicken knights
A unit of a dozen zulu orcs
The above gives me 2 large armies for dragon rampant/ god of battles
30 converted brits for my maori wars to close that project
Around 100 samurai types and 7 4ground buildings to do
Portuguese lots sitting in lead pile for 6 or so years which have added to over last couple of years
Last 30 germans to add to my COC germans plus couple of tanks though re enforced platoon painted since september
Part 2
Dwarf roman army of around 100 figures untouched in lead pile
Dwarf scots army of around 100 figures in lead pile
Fighting season USMC PLATOON and platoon of insurgents which were chrimbo pressies
Frostgrave one warband done and another nearly finished
Buildings for ww2 and afghanistan as want to get some terrain together after losing all mine from moving hoke and selling of over last 5 years
So aiming to consolidate rather than grow...that is until shiney effect hits😀
The above
-
A Welsh, Scottish & French retinue to go with my Early English for Lion Rampant.
If I get that done (Fat chance) some vehicles for my WW2 British.
-
All frostgrave minis painted.
[...]
"All" :D ... isn't that a risky thing to say? Doomed from the start? ;)
Never say never in RL and never say all in Tabletopgaming. ^^
Very interesting to read, we really should come back next year and check, who achieved what, when the dust has settled.
-
Finish any of the projects I have started. Any of them, really. I am focusing first on Frostgrave, and then either Lion Rampant (both Westerosi and Historical armies) or Fallout (using This Is Not a Test). I also have a small Mad Max project coming together, which would be really easy to start and finish, so maybe I'll strike there while the iron is hot. Really, I just need to be more disciplined about getting things done this year. And considering the number of figured I bought last year (several 100) and the number I finished painting (if we include sealing them at the end that number is a pathetic 0), I'd say I have my work cut out for me. ::) :D
-
Finish my snow terrain so I can play the Ardennes, Frostgrave and Retreat from Moscow.
Paint up all the Empress Indian Mutiny figures to add to all my painted Foundry guys.
Add to my Pacific WWII figures.
Play more games, took a lot of time off this last year to recharge.
The great thing is that this year at the end of March I retire. :)
More time for the hobby, if I can stay away from reading all the cool stuff on LAF. lol
Thanks to all who spend time making this forum so fun. :-*
-
2015 was a painful, grating, dragging year, which ended with major personal upheaval.
Hopefully, in the wake of upheaval comes rejuvenation, so...
2016: A New (and Improved) Year!
Establish a permanent miniatures workspace so I needn't pack everything up each time I'm interrupted-
I'm planning my own time, so no more arbitrary interruptions-
Re-connect with my gaming pals and actually play more often than once or twice a year-
Terrain: my MDF & photo-skinned "Mean Streets" urban layout has begun
Get enough modern/martial artist figures for the "Fistful of Kung Fu" games I've been dreaming about
Maybe see if my brother's interested in Osprey's "Black Ops" (he's retired from an actual career in that sort of thing, so maybe he can offer a 'reality check' on the ruleset)
-
This is a plan... lol
1) Sell off as many 25+mm miniatures as I can. 8)
2). No new miniatures except 1:1 sold off or 1:2 painted (and only in 15mm or smaller sizes.) :-I
3). During 2016 I plan to
A) paint 100 Ral Partha (RP) 1970s goblins
B) paint 100 RP Dwarf
C) paint 50 non-RP Dwarfs
D) paint my VSF/Tarzan figures in 25+mm
E ) paint my VSF/Tarzan figures in 15mm
F) paint some of my 15mm SF forces (amount TBD)
G) paint some of my 15mm Fantasy Forces (amount TBD)
H) paint football figures for Competitive Violence League beta test games
I) paint 3mm and 6mm figures when possible
-
Paint more than last year.
Shouldn't be hard, I finished 10 or so figures in 2015... :(
-
Finally finishing my Old West town Hickory Flat (miniatures and detritus).
Enter LPL 10.
Buy less and paint more. (Very unlikely lol)
Cheers,
Za
-
1) finish several projects in perpetual "almost ready state " on the painting table
15 mm ottomans, tartars, Russian reiters, Western reiters, algerian pirates, the small band of crusader sergeants, spearmen and pilgrims
2) push forward with the 28 mm samurai and pieces of terrain that are in state of just begun - get enough terrain to be able to field standard scenarios for By Fire and Sword
3) and in between that responsible stuff: Get enough carthagenians and their allies painted to paint to be able to play weith them: first with Sword and Spear later maybe with Hail Caesar
4) and not to be left after all the painting, play - By Fire and Sword skirmishes, at least one huge Pike and Shotte clash, preferably one or two divisional games of By Fire and Sword, some Lion Rampant (or Dragon rampant), maybe some Piquet and maybe Chain of Command
5) don't buy more new stuff than I paint to finished status. That is going to be challenging, with the rest of the Carthaginian allies approaching at some point, but may be achievable if progress on Carthaginians is as swift as it was in trial units of numidians and hispanians were.
-
Simple, I must play more.
I spent a lot of money in the last couple of years in various rule books, minis, paints, terrain pieces and even some boxed games and I barely played 5 or 6 games in the last three years.
-
My plans for 2016? :?
Not to drown in unpainted miniatures... lol
...and do some commission work in my spare time
-
Hello,
I'm new here so I guess this is a great topic to start with.
2015 brought a major move so in 2016 I hope to finish my new game room. I'm not sure on how to post pictures as of yet but when I figure it out I will do so.
I would also like to complete my Picts for Dux Brit. The Raiders Supp. Also, complete our Helms Deep model, F&IW minis and more scratch built buildings.
I also am trying not to buy any new minis as I have a mountain of lead presently :o
-
Out of the gate in 2016, I'm working on a battalion of militia for Black Powder.
I'm working on a couple of armies in 28mm plastics, but I'm developing my own setting and nations- I'm converting ECW/30YW cavalry into dragoons for one army; the other army will be using 1700's line infantry;
I've even got a unit of Warlord Games' Firelock Storming Party done up as light infantry.
Once finished with the militia, I'll move on to a battalion of line infantry for the 2nd army, and see if I can finish the dragoons.
I'm sure it'll look great once I make some progress, but the rather anachronistic conversions and colors might make some historical gamers weep. :)
-
- Finish painting my Frostgrave minis
- Finish painting my Mordheim minis
- Work on my Frostgrave scenery
- Work on my Mordheim scenery
- Finish my Dropzone Commander armies
That's quite enough. Though I already started another side project...
DOH!
-
Paint 2000 figs which i hope 50% will be my own( but never is ;) ) which will include 2-3 Brigades of British 1812 in 28mm to fight my yanks .. a unit of USA dragoons .. and the rest will be add on's to my other stuff ..
Need to rebase a load of stuff.....
-
In 2016 I am going to continue to concentrate on the Back of Beyond and Darkest Africa.
1. Paint up 6-7 Warlord Chinese units (1 is finished and another almost finished).
2. Paint up my BOB American unit and support
3. Paint up some more BOB civies
4. Acquire some Bolshie and White Russian cavalry
5. Acquire support weapons for my Bolshies, White Russians, and Chinese
6. Paint up a small unit of Cuprum's wonderful Basmachis
7. Construct some new pulpish African huts
8. Construct a palisade for my DA village
This month my painting mojo has been strong so hoping to actually get this all done
-
Doubt if I will finish but I will continue to progress my:-
Greek Hoplites
WW1 British
Byzantines
-
I can't remember if I posted it here, but I set a Q1 goal of 12 hobby tasks to complete by April 1st. If I achieve my goal I'll buy the next round of BMG models I wanted. If not, I'll have to wait until May. I'm actually doing quite well so far, but it's early...and we all know how resolutions go. :P
-
Paint 2000 figs this year managed to paint 2004 figs last year. :)
But 70% was for other people .. :-[ so this year i will paint at least 50% for my self and the other half for my club mates ..
