In one sense I'm glad that  I recently sold my Perry WWII metals- with all the glorious stuff that, lets face it, many other companies wouldn't cover in so much detail, I'd get dragged into the period big time! And I can really do without that!

I've kept my box each of Desert Rats and Africa Corp and I have a test sprue of Brits in grey that was sent to me when Michael asked me to paint the infantry for the premiere release of the range at Salute a few years back (any excuse to post up some pics of the diorama!):

Darrell, although, as you know, I whinge about too much reposting of pics which have been shown before, I have to say that personally, that is one diorama I could look at again and again. Some of your best work I think.

I too have recently dug out my boxes of plastic 8th Army and Afrika Korps and been having another go at them.
They are simply gorgeous figures. So evocative - I love them. But they are just that little bit too diminutive and fiddly to paint. Which makes me hate them. So I have a love/hate relationship with them  o_o

I know why Michael went for 'true 1/56th' for this range, but I really, really, really wish he had just made these wonderful figures in the same scale as all the rest of the Perrys stuff.

Hey ho. We can't always get what we wish for :)

Very true as regards the scale, it makes them more difficult to paint as the detail is just so much finer.

Still, they're some of the best WWII stuff available IMHO as the usual Perry magic in terms of realism and dynamics of pose really come to life with these sculpts. There are a few ranges out there, where the chap shooting the rifle just doesn't look like he's even aiming. Still, I like those ranges too  o_o.

Darrell.

PS. couldn't resist with the pics- sorry :)

i'm fed up of those sculptors/companies who start a range , 3 or 4 blisters, and nothing more ...
I bought some Gorgon studio Foreign Legion, quite 2 years ago, and i'm still waiting for some support weapons ...

that's why i love those figs, and even more Michael ...

Michael as done a stunnig work on the metal parts of the model ... The Gun mount is a pure beauty .
And i love the crew in undershirt , André Malraux ( De Gaulle Minister ) called the mid-war Free French of Bir Hakeim "the epic tramps" .
